Its actually light...seasons quick...shoulder wood..thats about it. Seems like ya need a real good bed of coals to get it goin. Once it fires...burns half descent i guess.
Yes...answered a CL add last fall...89 year old man bucked it n split it by hand.
A lot of wood workers like to make bowls n such out of it.
Read a couple reviews about burnin it..some people wont cause it related to poison ivy somehow BUT i think thats just the (fruit) it produces. No better way to find out better than to try it urself. No itchies or rash yet.

All the way up to 57°F today with a low of 31°F last night
I might throw in some silver maple to heat up the house overnight.

First day of burning for 24 hours straight even if during the day the coals got down to very few between reloads and got a little warmer in the house than I'd like.
Still have to work on getting some kindling and we're still using the leftovers from last year.
I'll get set up for serious burning sometime soon.
Still have dead tomato plants in my wood supply buckets.

I've had a fire every night for a week now. When I got home it was 62 IST now it's 73. Still burning ugly Ash chunks. When I left this morning it was 29 OST. Now a nice 48 OST. Floyd is outside barking and letting everyone he is present. :headbang:

I have the 100. She's still cold and I usually wait until sometime in Nov. We put in the "mini splits" heat pump's a bit over a year ago (for the AC) but they really do a nice job in the shoulder seasons with no observed difference in the elec. bill.
How's your main refractory? I replaced mine last year, not a terrible job but it's an easy "grand" out of your wallet.

35 here, topped out at a sunny 39. Mrs Papi didn't feel like going to the stacks in between school bus runs this afternoon, so we're catching up now. No problem for me, I like playing with the new stove. :) Didn't get below 66 inside after a light morning load. Still riding the pine train, and will until it gets a whole lot colder, because the IS doesn't seem to know that pine is supposed to burn fast.

bear I'm wondering if you mean Lanthis or Tree of heaven - heavenwood. That stuff grows like a weed down your way, and is actually very invasive. PA dot is spending big bucks trying to eradicate it from the highway medians because it grows so fast. I had it in Frederick and would burn whole trees in huge burn piles.
I was under the impression that Ginko trees were planted ornamental type trees.

The old gentleman told me his grandfather planted the tree in the mid 1800s....he desribed how the leaves would all fall off within 24 to 48 hours once they started fallin. He also said about the (fruit) had a nasty smell. He showed me wedding couples gettin there picture taken while the leaves were fallin off.
    Im pretty sure its gingko....

Deteriorating. Slowly. I’m trying to make mine last as long as I can. I think it was last year I bought and installed the “bridging” nozzle brick. Or what they call the cap center brick.

30 here now and going down to the mid 20's. I lit the first fire of the season a couple hours ago, we've had about 4 frosts/freezes the last week. I've been busy as all heck c/s/s over the last week, I'm tired but feel happy good, doing what I love to do! I'll try to post some pics on the "Wood Pile"
