I believe the entire end should come off the motor. Can you see how it mounts?

Let’s see. Communication usually helps in these situations. Okay. So I called support guys at AHS. Talked with Nathanael. Helpful man. Told him what was going on and where I was at. He told me that what is probably going on is the end switch went bad. On the other end of motor (under the cover plate and cast iron end plate) there is an electrical assembly. The brass ring on these usually go bad. There may be a break or an almost break in this ring. EFAD2EAF-64AD-4A15-9D10-6C5ABC73E8C4.jpeg 043F978A-F2EE-4D9B-B663-BAB5DD40FFAC.jpeg
Sure enough. There is the break in the ring.

He is sending me a new and improved end switch assembly, a new capacitor, and a new round heat shield in case I have to pull that plate off the other end. With new end switch and capacitor it will probably run fine since everything is spinning free. And I won’t have to use new motor because this one will be fixed. Now I have to wait a few days for these parts to come in.

Wish I would have done this a few months ago when I was suppose to.:picard:Oh well. Let the bubbling goo flow for now. And I will start moving firewood.

-6c/21f this morning with a heavy frost. I let the fire go out last night as I was tired of being hot. Ill likely let the furnace do some work for the day until Im home this evening. Its a beautiful sunny fall morning in the Rockies!

YES! IT IS! So after I found out that I would be waiting for a few days for the parts I started moving a little bit of firewood. As I was doing that I thought to myself, Gas. What would a REAL firewood hoarder do in this situation? Get some FIREWOOD back up heat! I mean, that is why this wood stove has been sitting here for seven years not being used!:emb:

Sweet! Easy enough fix and what a great company to deal with. Nice to know they’re still doing quality even though they are building them a little different lol.
So not having to disassemble the mounting end further is a bonus as well! Good call on the call.

Gas they have a short 1-2 page instruction for the bearing replacement, they may be able to email it to you. Your looking at one of the bearings with the end off by your ring. Iirc you had a new motor on hand, why not throw that on and put the new parts on your old motor for a spare ready to go. That's what I did except I got a complete motor/fan assy.

Thanks. Yes they e-mailed me the instructions for end switch and capacitor replacement already. I ordered and received the bearing pulling tool. And the fan pulling tool. Very handy.

Yup on the bearing. The high temp one is on the other end.

Well. That is an option with new motor. But talking with Nathanael he made the point of it’s an easy fix and you don’t even need to use the new one. With the new end switch and capacitor it should run fine for a long time. I now have my wood stove keeping the house pretty toasty. It’s now 84 in the basement, 73 in the living room on the next level, and 69 upstairs. So could do either way. I’ll think on it.

I’m trying to remember if you are running an E100 also or do you have the E180?

Supposed to get a hard freeze here tonight. Hopefully it's enough to knock down some bugs. Got a few pieces of hedge and hickory in the boiler DHW and whatever little bit of heat we might need tonight.

Upper 20's for tonight here too, first hard freeze. Hopefully takes out the bugs! Loaded a couple Red Oak splits & Pine in the boiler for overnight. Got a little overzealous last night with my load, so she went all day on one load. Temps right at 40 all day with a stiff wind.

Hottest day in I'm guessing in 3 weeks or longer. Currently sitting at 13 C or 56 F, but it was a few degrees warmer earlier today. Have had the stove going for probably 6 weeks already...I actually cleaned the chimney/stove yesterday. Can't say it was required yet, but after running less than optimum wood through the reactor, it doesn't hurt to reset the clock.

Im all for cleaning the chimney whenever you get the feeling that you should even if you didnt have to! We were warm here as well. I think we were up to 13c and down to -5 or -7 this morning. I have a nice fire going tonight of lodgepole. Typical fall weather, mild days and then the sun goes down and the temps drop like a rock.

What's gingko wood like, light or dense? Always wondered. Get it from scrounging a street tree?

The thermometer on the back porch says it’s 24 degrees. I’ve got some hard Maple burning in the P.E. Super 27.
