I’m more impressed with this stove the more I get to use it and learn how to use it properly for our setup. I let it burn down yesterday and started from coals and a 250F stove at 7:30 pm. It was 75 in here already and I’d had several windows open all day! By 7:45 it was set for the night and I went to bed about 8. The downstairs bathroom and another room on the same side windows were both open an inch and so was our bedroom window upstairs right above the downstairs bathroom all night during the high 50 mph winds and all. I got up twice at 11:30 and 2:45 and it was 80 downstairs and 75 up. Our bedroom was around 70 and I had the door open. The bedroom beside ours is usually 2-3 degrees cooler and they’re both right over the hearth at the northeast end of the house. I guess the ceiling is well insulated. Plus it has a suspended ceiling.
So now over 20 hours later I haven’t touched the stove, it’s 75 in the whole house and I shut the windows at 3 pm. The stove is a little over 120 degrees and still radiating heat. All this during a really windy period! That’s usually the worst for us. This constantly radiating heat source is amazing. I’ll fire it up again around sunset or so.
I used a mix of pine and KD with a lot of small stuff. Nothing anywhere near big enough to be considered an overnighter.
Once you get it heated up and engage the cat you see no smoke out the chimney and the firebox glows mostly and explodes in flames on occasion in a mesmerizing way. You can see the cat glowing near the top of the glass. It’s burning the smoke at around 1100 degrees just under the stove top and the stove pipe is below 200 degrees.
The firebox only holds about 2 cu ft if you stuff it in so at this rate a cord of wood should last quite awhile!
So yeah, I’m a fan! WS all the way. I can’t wait until it really gets cold. This stove is so controllable I have total confidence in it.

Good review. Just wait until you get one of those amazing rolling flames! It is a WOW! moment. I remember the first time it happened with us and I actually started to freak out thinking it would begin to overheat. It didn't. But there was some flame and suddenly the flame just seemed to leave the wood and rise to the top of the firebox. Then it started to roll. Beautiful to watch.

Just posted a similar thread on our new Ideal Steel. Woodstock sure seems like they deserve all the love they get around these parts! Glad the new stove is treating you well. Congratulations!

The fireview is an amazing stove. It is so amazing that I wish I would have bought another one instead of the Jotul for the basement

New AS owner here. I had the same thing happen Sunday. Flames coming out the reburn tubes rolling around and was concerned about over heating. What a beautiful sight.
From what I have seen, the colder the outside temperature is the better the stove performs. I hope I can say the same thing when we hit the single digits. had a little of that action tonight for a short time.
So far, I am solidly in the Woodstock court.

We’ve seen them a few times already and they are amazing! They’re like ghost flames. Just beautiful!

Thanks for all the comments everyone, and thanks even more for helping me get to this point! I’m a happy camper
