First fire today. Just burning some uglies during the early evening. Probably will have one ugly fire a day for the next week.
I started my 1st fire Friday night with some yellow poplar and sugar maple and I kept it going all day Saturday. Funny story, I went racing Saturday evening and about 10:30 my wife calls telling me the family room is so warm she couldn't stay in the room and the stove was all the way down. I was baffled because she can stand a room in the 80's. I got home to an uncomfortably warm house and checked the stove and she had it set full open. I had to go through the instructions with her this morning.
Today was also my first fire of the season. Just burnin some oak uglies. Temps are topping out at 50F midday and gettin down to around 40F at night.
Don't know how I missed this, we have been burning 24/7 for over two months now. Most of the lakes are frozen over, as well as slow moving streams. The spring feed creeks are icing at the edge. Happy winter!
Had the first fire here the other night. Temps were down to around 40-42 and the house had been closed up all day so it didn't warm up. Little bit of white oak and it was toasty in an hour or so. -Scott
