That is going to draw some power. I 'had' a small on demand for my place (just me) and it made more than enough hot water...until my hard water got to it.

I hope you have soft water.

Not trying to be a kill joy here on a new purchase. I know people that have had good luck with them and people that would never own one again. Every application is different.

    Hope it goes well.

    Thanks for your comments
Luckily there is NO hard water here!
Hard water can really wear out things like this!
So if 27KW is enough and according to the chart for this size house and climate zone it is the right one, then it should be fine. However we will see how it really does work out. :)

Yes it will draw some electrical juice, so I got a 125 amp sub panel for it and my new Welder & Plasma Cutter. :)

    Getting the Juice hookup today!
My plan calls for 45 feet of 8 Guage 3 conductor wire.
I got a 50 foot roll for $126 at Home Depot.
Looking forward to Noil that is No Oil!!!
I called Ecosmart and they varified that the white
neutral wire is not used if you notice. :)

Ok, the above pics was the 125 amp sub panel so here are the pics of the EcoSmartie side
My pieve here is that the manual specifies 8-3 and as you know that is L1 , L2 , Neutral , and Bare ground. So themanual does not show the ground connection or any sort of white neutral connection. I thought ok it is just like my 50 amp welder outlet and sure enough I called EcoSmart and they verified that the neutral wire is not used. Ok, but the large opening for the wiring will not support 3 runs of 8-3 with the jacket. Sure if I strip the jacket and cut back the neutral, they might fit! How would that look? Also the clamp really should be tightened on wires with the jacket on. So I just added another 3/8” romex connector by drilling another hole. Therefore with the cover on, the wires are protected as they should be!
Next up will be the water connections :)

I have that exact same model and it has performed flawlessly over the past five years. Prior to that, I had a Bosch tankless electric and went through three of them in three years....Bosch replaced two under warranty and then said that the repeated failures were due to a faulty electrical system in my house. Uh, erh, um, they never inspected the electrical system so how can they say that the electrical system in my house is "faulty"? Oh, and one of the three had to be replaced because the copper heating element sprung a leak after only one month?!?!?!?!? Ecosmart provides a "lifetime" guarantee on their products provided you send them an installation receipt from a licensed plumber and electrician. Yes, these things draw a shirtload of power when they are operating but they only draw when you need hot water. I'd buy this unit again in a heartbeat.

    Hello
The EcoSmart water hookup is a triple bypass operation!!
We just got the hot water hooked up on the EcoSmart! The new “Copper Lock” is literally No Sweat!!!
No we are doing the cold water.
The trick here is 3 way operation.
    1. EcoSmart - heating water from incoming House water line all by itself.
    2. EcoSmart heating Water coming out of 40 gal SuperStor tank.
    3. EcoSmart not in loop - In other words
The boiler is heating the SuperStor and for hot water.
Original boiler with indirect tank installed.

I put my Ecosmart in about 8-9 years ago. Love it!
It will make hot water all day without missing a beat. Mine will pull 112 amps on high fire.

I put in a softener and have had no problems.

Yup. Had a Kinetico at my other house here...it was awesome. It's just me now so I live with it. But a softener is a great thing for sure...if I get married again and my living arrangement changes then I am sure that will be on the list.

    Hello
Well the panel is in. So here is the scutlebut!
The Copper Lock Copper fittings started leaking when the water heated up! So we had to do something quick. Replaced all the fittings with shark bite and the panel is up and running! Disappointed with the Copper Lock, maybe there is a trick to using it but it does not say in the instructions! The success of that product if it truly works is in the instructions and training of it’s proper use!
Anyway, the 3 way mode of operation is in and the SuperStor and Buderus boiler is in bypass mode because the SuperStor tank leaks like a siv! The warranty came thru and we will pick up the tank next week! Now we are heating with NOIL that is NoOil !!
The delay time in bringing heat to the hot water faucet is longer with the On Demand Panel than a 40 gallon SuperStor holding 130 Degree preheated water but it is something we can get used too.
Running the shower and one sink simultaneously also does not seem to be a problem so starting the dishwasher and jumping in the shower should be fine with this 3 - 40 double pole breaker EcoSmart panel that can draw approx 112 amps. :)
So I set the EcoSmart to 125 Deg F !!
Is that a good setting? What do you use?

That should be good. You will only lose a few degrees at the faucet. I have mine at 135 and it will turn your hands red. It won't get quite that high at the tub because the water runs too fast.

It does take a little longer for the hot water to get there than with a tank type heater, but it doesn't bother me any.

The 10 year old leaking SuperStor indirect water tank now has a new home at the town dump.

    Hello
We finished the 1/2” to 3/4" water trunk line retro fit and set the incoming water pressure to 60 PSI with a new 3/4” pressure regulator. We filled the SuperStor last night from the street water and it was so cold it did not register on the Temp Guage! This morning before using any water, the heat from the pellet stove all night made the SuperStor water 75 Degrees and using that water with the EcoSmart electric On Demand the heat and pressure in the shower was Excellent!!!
So that is On Demand Electric Hot Water with a pellet stove kicker!!

    Hello
I finally made some instructions for switching between the oil boiler and the On Demand Panel for 3 modes of operation.
    How does this look?

    See Color Coded Pics Below

    There are 3 Modes

    1. Original Buderus DHW Indirect Tank Mode

    2. Electric Hot Water On Demand Panel Mode

    3. Crossover Or On Demand with Indirect Tank BoosMode 3 is currently in use as the normal energy saving mode for most hot water needs approx 1.5 - 2 GPM

In order to fill the bath tub at 4 Gallons Per Min,

Mode 3 must be changed to Mode 1

    Do the following:

Turn Indirect TankV1 - Yellow Arrow = On

    Turn CrossOverV4 - Green Arrow = Off

Turn Boiler Switch Black Arrow - On

When done filling the bath tub at 4 Gallons Per Min,

Mode 1 must be changed to Mode 3

    Do the following:

Turn Indirect TankV1 - Yellow Arrow = Off

    Turn CrossOverV4 - Green Arrow = On

Turn Boiler Switch Black Arrow - Off

    Details of all modes:

Mode 1 - Original Buderus DHW Indirect Tank

    Valve & Position

    Indirect TankV1 - Yellow Arrow = On

    On DemandV2 - Red Arrow = Off

    Cold WaterV3 - Blue Arrow = Off

    CrossOverV4 - Green Arrow = Off

Boiler Switch Black Arrow - On

Mode 2 - On Demand Hot Water Panel

    Indirect TankV1 - Yellow Arrow = Off

    On DemandV2 - Red Arrow = On

    Cold WaterV3 - Blue Arrow = On

    CrossOverV4 - Green Arrow = Off

Boiler Switch Black Arrow - Off

Mode 3 - Crossover - Indirect Water Tank Feeding On Demand Hot Water Panel - Most efficient Mode

    Indirect TankV1 - Yellow Arrow = Off

    On DemandV2 - Red Arrow = On

    Cold WaterV3 - Blue Arrow = Off

    CrossOverV4 - Green Arrow = On

Boiler Switch Black Arrow - Off

Boiler on switch is in Pic 1
    See black arrow

Valves are defined and color coded as follows:

Hot Water Indirect Tank Output Valve 1 - Yellow Arrow in Pic 2

Hot Water Panel On Demand Output Valve 2 - Red Arrow in Pic 2

Cold Street Water Valve In - Valve 3 - Blue Arrow in Pic 2

Hot Water Indirect Tank Crossover Valve 4 - Green Arrow in Pic 2
