Mine is getting worn out but I agree 1000% it's worth every penny, I used normal 2x4's, they will get dinged with the saw at some point. I like how you bolted the cross sections, I just used screws. It's holding up just a little loosie goosie. She's held some weight and took plenty of abuse.
Welcome LumberJacked! Looks like you've come to the right place. Does that sawbuck fold? I need to build one of those.....
Thank you for the welcome. It does fold and I’m not even finished with it. I have to add those last 2 2x4’s for support. Finished picture to come in the morning. Excited to part of this great community.
May I suggest getting rid of the pivot bolts and using a full length 1 1/4" wood dowel instead? It's much easier on the chain if you get too close. I'll try to shoot some pictures tomorrow.
Welcome LumberJacked. I have one just like that I built with regular 2x4’s several years ago and it’s still going strong despite a few extra notches here and there. I used bolts too and you do have to be aware of where your chain is but I haven’t had any issues yet. It is a great back saver but lately I’ve been using this instead and I like it even better. That is a nice sawbuck. Not sure about that one log, but the sawbuck is nice. How big of a log do you dare put on it?
Haha. I hear ya about that log. I put some pretty heavy near 8’ logs on there no problem. It’s solid. Saves time. Saves your back. Saves your chain and is safer. Looking forward to using it again.
About midway through here. Had a blast. Saved so much time I got it all split before my son woke up from his nap. Fatherhood before firewood.
