In the matter of 2 or 3 days our spectacular fall colors are disappearing quickly. The bald maple in the foreground was bright flaming red 2 days ago..................
Still 98% green here. We just haven't had much of anything besides the shorter daylight . Swamp maples usually turn first here and I haven't been out there in the last couple of days.
Took this shot this morning. Almost as many leaves on the ground as there are on the Maple. The Poplar in the background is hardly turning though.
Had our first hard frost last night. Should help the colors show. It's been mostly green with a few yellows around the very N.E. part of Ohio this year.
never got much color this year bad set of storms blew through and pretty much stripped the trees flattened fields plus the twisters. generally made a mess.
This has been the most disappointing year we've ever had for color. The soft maples and sassafras were not bad but with all the wind we've had, most of those are down. One maple in our yard is usually one of the best but there has been hardly any color in it this year except yellow and some faded red and now half the leaves are down. Out hunting it is amazing to see so much green out there yet too. Hum... But, the old saying is the longer leaves stay on the trees the colder the winter.
