80 degrees today. Spent the better part of the day in Alton climbing up and down Mt. Major. It was a perfect day for it! Sipping a few cocktails out on the back deck now. Supposed to be 80 again tomorrow. This late season summer weather is so nice!

That would give his wife an excuse to really crank up his stove.

    Pretty much

Our Sphynx will run and jump on the stove if its cool/cold in the house and yeowl until I build a fire.

Some nights during the shoulders we might leave the stove off overnight and then build a fire to take the chill off in the morning.

Chupi knows that the heat comes from the little gray box that makes noise.

I got time yesterday and the weather is nice... so I swapped out the bad center tonneau cover latch on the Avy.

The center panel RH latch was in bad shape and required a hammer to move it.

I got a good one off ebay and.

First off I went after the screws on the old one, and of course the heads broke off :picard:
No worries...we will just use the old latch as a drill jig and drill out the old ones and retap the holes.

The originals were a 5mm button head torx screw.. and there was plenty of room, so I drilled and tapped for 1/4-28 and used a button head Allen screw.

The handles are piloted into the tonneau panel, so it was a snap to gitterdone.

Now the center panel latches down snug...

The next fix is the rear gate seal...
The way the tailgate articulates past the rubber seal it does not take long for the seal to become dislodged from the pinch weld/floor of the box.

I am going to solve the issue by POP RIVETING a piece of aluminum flat bar to the end of the bed that will bridge onto the edge of the seal that grips the bed.

Adding 4 to 6 set screws in the bar so they go into the seal will snug things up well... and prevent the tailgate from pulling the seal off the box pinch weld.

Warm is good to "cuddle up to" but heat can overwhelm me. Makes me have a sick feeling, and hard to breath. I am too well insulated. A tee shirt is enough for me most times. I most alway wake up with no covers on me. My dog will lay against my leg. My wife will bury herself in a comforter, blanket and a top sheet. I finally bought her an electric throw blanket for use when she is in her recliner. I seldom ever use a recliner. prefer sitting upright in an office chair, a nice padded one. I seldom lean back. Now after all that, know that the temp. in the living area is usually 76F or higher. Wife won't allow it lower.

    Been there done that.

The flush out about kills me (literally) and I told the doc where he could put the stuff after the last time.

I figure at my age they can just stay outta my places.....

Some of their other junk has ruined me for good.

After the first stroke they put me on one of the Statin drugs... OMG within a month my major muscles were just nearly unable to function.

I stopped the drugs, but the process that was started has not gone totally away.

I lose a little more muscle mass every few months.

What I could do last summer, this summer is a no go.

    Not pleased at all.

I would not feed the statin drugs to a dying dog...

    That stuff is a killer

Well they warn you about the high volume diarrhea taking many days worth of laxatives and high volumes of liquids has major effects on one.

Drove by Mt Major on Monday. Cold and raining but still a lot of cars in the parking area and along the road there. Looking as we went by and it looked fogged in. Tuesday was likely a much better day.

I took myself off statins contrary to my former doctor’s wishes. I had great cholesterol numbers but couldn’t walk up any incline and lost most use of my legs. It’s taken almost two years of gradual improvement since stopping statins to be able to walk normally again. The things Big Pharma doesn’t tell ya...........
