hello fellow hoarders, just curious everyone’s equipment set ups for cutting, hauling and splitting. Starting with my saws have a ms250 and a ms180c for small stuff, countyline 25 ton splitter with a 6.5 Koehler. Recently bought a ol 98 blazer 4 door 4x4 for a 100 dollar bill to go out in the woods scrounging. Have a vogelzang defender that gets to eat all the work and keep my butt warm haha.
Nice set up Shawn, how do you like the MS 250? I picked one up last Christmas, first gas saw, still learning with it.
Absolutely love it quite powerful and cuts good for what it is also love my 180c for smaller work cant beat neither
Nice set-up ATV/trailer , Husqy 359 for the cutting/bucking 16' trailer for the hauler 22 ton Speeco splitter
Very nice setup you have there, good looking country in the background also, I’m going to get me another atv I have a 3x3 pull behind atv/mower trailer, I live in the mountains of east Kentucky and don’t have a atv at the moment what the heck’s wrong with me haha
Glad you finally joined in the conversation and related a thread, Shawn bowen If you go to your profile, you can add your goodies to your “signature.”
I use a Chevy 1500 and an old, but heavy duty, homemade 4x8 utility trailer as my main haulers... My saw is a Husqvarna 450... And I use a John-Deere 1025r as my wheelbarrow. My spliter is an older, horizontal only, Northern Hydraulics unit... All I need now is a wood stove to burn it in....
Hey Shawn how do you like the defender? Thinking of getting one do you recommend? Where bouts in eastern ky?
Yes I do like the defender it does pretty good for what it is, I don’t know if they still come with a blower but mine did, blower does well only problem is I had to reline fire brick this year(4th season) but that is to be expected. Martin county Kentucky by the way small town of Inez
I should have added that the stuck tractor is the same as our but was not. But then, I could also have looked up a picture of ours stuck... Same thing.
1954 Massey Harris Pacer & an a old trailer given to me. 1976 home built splitter, powered now by a HF 212cc engine. Sadly my portable splitter is broken. Favorite saw, Husky 162 SE with 16 inch bar. she is old but a gooder one. My saw tree with Husky 455 rancher, Jonsered 2159, Polan 2150, and Echo cs 400 Of course the skidding mud wadeing butt puckering Bota L3301. And my OH MY GAWD HE LET IT GET WET WOOD PILE. Al
Love that old massey, pulls like a billy goat I bet, them 212 hf engines are pretty much like a Honda clone can’t beat them for the price I’m going to get one for a rototiller I been restoring, had a worn out 3hp tecumseh on it, I can get the hf for way less than an over haul of the tecumseh won’t be original but ehhh so what, nice equipment u have there !!!!
Yup the 16 HP Pacer pulls very well. I have 3 of thre HF 212 cc engines two hemis and a standard one. Standard one is on my log splitter, one Hemi is on my MTD snow blower GAWD that thing will throw some snow. The 3d is a Hemi and is on my chipper shredder. takes a lot of brush to bog it down. Highly recommend them. Al
I had one...decent lil stove for the money...I had to partially block of the primary and secondary air as I had/have higher draft and the burn time was really short...could get it to go 6-8 hours on a load after the mods. As far as the blower, it depends where you get them. Mine was from Menards for $450, but no blower...the blower was another $100 IIRC. But that's still way cheaper than what I've seen 'em for other places. I found a deal on a Drolet 1400i insert stove, swapped out for that as its about 50% larger firebox and the blower is in the front so its easily serviceable...the Defender had to be pulled out of the fireplace to clean the blower when it started to vibrate from being out of balance from dirt buildup (and it doesn't take too long for that to happen either)
I got mine from tractor supply 549.00 with blower, I keep my blower clean, take a vacuum and air hose to it 3 times a season and before first fire
They are a well built engine, nothing really feels cheap fuel cap, choke and throttle handles and all that well made engine for the price, I have friends that have done some mods to them and run them on go carts, ought to be a good replacement for this old thing
