I love lake fishing. Big or small lakes, doesn't matter. Just restored a 25 year old Gemini bass boat. What a job, took me over a year. Looking forward to finally using it. Should be a big improvement over my 15 ft aluminum. Getting the itch now.

I've always heard the Great Lakes are more like oceans than lakes… must be really important to be able to move right along if you had to, just to cover the distances. Nice boat Sarah. You guys are making a whole lot of great memories, that's for sure…

Yes it is, 70 mph and skipping across the water. It is awesome! (No kids in the boat when we open it up though!)

Just hang on tight, say a prayer and go!:D

Sea worthiness is the most important feature in a Great Lakes boat. Once the waves kick up, all the speed in the world won't do you much good, you can't use it. Bass boats are the "King of the Hill" on protected inland waters, but you would never get me in one on the great lakes. I'm 59 and have been fishing Erie and Ontario my whole life, trust me on this. My 16' Starcraft "bow-rider" style boat sees occasional limited action out there when the weather is just right, but it is definitely not a "great lakes boat" either. That's why I am restoring/pimping out an old 1962 Boston Whaler hull that I picked up. Those are serious, unsinkable Great Lakes/Ocean boats.

We don't go out on Lake Michigan in the boat, we stay in the bay of Green Bay. It can still get dangerous but not like being out on the lake. My Husband is a tournament fisherman and one of his first years out he took our boat out on Lake Michigan and a storm rolled in, he was taking it slow but ended up breaking the motor mount on one side. Coast guard had to tow him in. That was the last time we ever went out on the lake. You wouldn't get me out there in any boat.
