    Another thought here.

Weld on a couple hubs from eBay. I bought Detroit axle hub assembly’s for my pickup 2 years ago and still going strong. They already have studs so you can slip a car tire on and then it will easily handle the weight.

The old tires were split and dry rotted, I chucked them...

No, the old ones that were on there before. They came off of an old craftsman cart.

I'm not sure of your tire size and don't know if you have a menards locally, but I saw some when I was in there last night with the rim at what looked like a reasonable price.

I built my own splitter. It's not quite done yet, mainly because I picked up my WoodEze processor and don't use it enough to justify the refinements I want to make to it. Some day...

I have had mine buried in the shed at camp for about 8 years or so. Finally pulled it out as it is time to split some beech I have dying and spent the last 2 weeks cleaning it up and rebuilding the carb on it as it was all varnished inside. Got her running thursday night and after a minute or so of smoking, we are back in business. I did just see the receipt from when my dad bought it around 1990, I will have to see what the total was.

Brunks " Big Buster" I will get the specs when I remember, I know it is an 8 HP Briggs. Made by a local stove shop that I believe has quit making these splitters but I don't ever recall it not being able to split something I threw on it.

I built this 15 years ago. 28 gpm, 11 hp Honda. About 200 cords been across the table. Starts on the first pull and has the original spark plug. I'm new here, nice to meet everyone! IMG_0232.JPG IMG_0231.JPG IMG_0230.JPG

From what I have learned recently, those were made in salem ohio, they did make stoves. I think they are still in business but I didn't research them anymore.
I was looking at one locally on craigslist but decided against getting it. Get some pics of it, we like pictures.

Thanks! It works very well but after getting it finished you "shouldas" start coming to mind. I worked in a very high end sheet metal shop for 30 years. I think we made about 10 of them. We sold 8 to pay for ours. I am in the process of designing one for my skid steer. This way I can easily move it anywhere and take the engine and hydraulics out of the equation. I am not going to reinvent the wheel. I have watched every video from here to the moon of every log splitter idea. My favorite wedge design is known as the "genius wedge". Look it up on YouTube. Well thought out. It's European. Sorry Europe but I'm copying it!!!

I built my own. Would have been about the same to buy one but would not have been as heavy duty or as satisfying.
