I finally got a little time to start splitting a red oak that tipped over 4-6 weeks ago.

Love oak. I only have a few cord if oak that I begin to use sparingly last year, I save it for the coldest days of winter. I think the bulk of it is 5 years c.s.s.

Yoo bad. I have a nearly unlimited supply (dozens) of dead-standing chestnut oaks. Just wish I could find more time to C/S/S.

We're in the same boat so use it usually only during January and February cold nights.

Yep good for you. Get it split and get it dried. I wish there was some oak around here but no such luck.
