Had today off, and spent an hour cleaning the Enviro and getting it all set for the cold. Had a bit of rust to scrape around the firebox area. Not bad and is not any problem. Did find evidence that something stuck to the outside of the glass sometime last spring. Damp sponge and a razor blade cleaned that up. Have a ton of Carriage House pellets all loaded into the basement from HD last month. Had to set the thermostat to 80 and fire it up for a test burn after. Ran it thru all the cycles. Looks like I'm just waiting on the cold to set in. ---Nailer---
Looks like I better plan on getting mine all spiffy......... But hoping me no need to use for at least a bit anyway! Still gotz a lotz of to do weez hopez!!
Thanks all, Good to be back. Don't see any need to paint the firebox as heat and flame will keep any further rust from spreading. And paint will burn off almost as fast it goes on. Worst case, I weld new steel over the bad areas (not anytime in the next 10 years). ---Nailer---
Yes, I do not think it will rust through as easily as some floor boards in a car! LOL Having a welder & Plasma Cutter around can come in handy! I had to upgrade the cleaning rod in my J2000 by cutting out the old one. Then, the auger motor kept falling off because the bracket was missing and the manufacturer did not have any! So I welded a new bracket together! See pic below! Do you think it would still make a good workshop heater?
Hey nailer. Any feedback on those carriage house. I was down at the canal yesterday and stopped at HD to see what they have for Pellets. I grabbed 2 bags of the carriage house but won’t burn for a while yet. If they’re decent I might splits 6 ton order with a neighbor so we can get it down to $229
Cork, Seem to be a middle of road pellet at best. I've burned 4 bags and they are fairly dirty at low burn rates. Hard to tell if they have much heat in them as I've only burned them to get chill out of house and not a long time soaking burn. For those that worry about dust in the bags these have quite a bit. About 1-1/2 cups per bag. Not sure if I would pull trigger on 6 tons but picking up 1 ton for shoulder season would be fine. Up to you, YMMV Good to hear from you, hope all is well. ---Nailer---
