Started snooping through the Avalanche the other day, popped the rear deck covers off and discovered that the rear panel was missing the forward facing rubber seal.

Head off the the local GM store and LUCKILY they had one in stock.

Get to reading about the AVY and discover that there are water drains in the bed that must be kept clean.

Yeah, they were mostly full of junk ...

Got that handled and then discovered one of the center panels lock handle was in bad shape (Corroded and almost impossible to move).. so I scared up a good used one on ebay.

Getting through the list of things that needed attention.

Avy's seem to be of two types...ones that have been beat to crap, and the ones that were never used except to drive to the golf course, or sit in the garage.

Ours is so clean underneath that you can almost eat off the frame and gear boxes...

Came from East central Oregon (SEMI ARID CLIMATE) so the normal wet sloppiness was not an issue.

All in all...pretty happy with the rig.......

Been looking at a "Snug top" for the back, as this would make the rig far more useful, especially in the wet weather...

I take 10mg of amlodipine when I go to bed. I still have balance issues, esp. when standing and turning. I have so many others that contribute to dizziness. I use a cane for short distance walking . I use my scooter to get to the mailbox or go shopping or when at the VA. My problems are worsened by my excessive wt. I am working on that. I'm down 23 lbs since 19 July. My hope is to get off some of these and to reduce others. I am older and those big guns are too much to keep up with.

Larry, one word of warning with the scooter. My mother got it in her head she needed one. Began relying on it and losing muscle strength. She lost all her ability to even walk or shift her @$$ in a chair even. Be careful.

When ya use these as a truck to haul dirt, rock, bark dust or any other type junk that would leave behind crap, then yesssss.

I have the opinion that the Avy's and EXT Caddy's are not a truck in the same sense of the word.

A regular pickup could care less if you leave crud in the bed.

Hauling stuff like junk ya buy at a garage sale or feed for the animals (not hay) a few sacks of pellets or ???? and these widdle rigs will shine..

I am very seriously thinking about a snug top for our AVY and only use the Tonneau cover slats during the summer..

The top will really make the rig way more useful...

    Sphynx

She has a tad more fuzzzzz than she should.. The Sphynx is supposed to be nude.

But we were not at all worried about the fuzzz.

More like a dog, will play fetch, watch a movie with you, greet you at the door when you come home.

She woke me up the other night and pestered me until I got up to see wasssssup.

I have learned that when she wakes me to go see what she wants.

She tore off to the living room and began staring at the wall that has 2 thermostats (one for the Quadrafire and one for the AC and a smoke alarm)

I am wondering and then the smoke alarm gave a CHIRP.

    Low battery warning.

Kitty (Chupi) went nuts and started chirping and yeowling.

    Replaced the battery.

No more noise so kitty came back to bed and cuddled up.
    Smart as a whip.

One night last year she drug us from bed and took us to the guest bath and a lake of water on the floor.

We always keep several milk jugs of water stored in the vanity cabinet in case of a power outage to flush with.

One had sprung a leak and was drizzling out of the cupboard onto the floor.

    Very enjoyable creature.

Part cat, part dog, part child....and loves her hooooomans.

I actually found a woman selling Pennington 100% oak pellets some years ago......got 'em cheap. They burned awesome. The regular stuff, not so much. Only slightly better than the above mentioned Infernals.

My honey uses her Avy like you mentioned...yards sale, feed etc. Those holes still collect junk and clog up easy since she has the covers off more times than not.. It's a great truck for all the reasons you mentioned and she wont get rod of it till it wont go anymore.

Personally, I find the hard tonneaus a royal PITA (especially the 3 piece ones like this). I will take my soft cover that rolls out the way any day.

Got Infernos a couple of years ago during the fire sales and found they worked well for my stoves, so bought 4 tons. A couple of tons spent a year outside, before getting used or being moved to the garage. Got them in the P43 right now (using up my last 1/2 ton). A bit on the ashy side, but decent heat. Work well for my circumstances, but probably not for some people.

The Pennington oak Pellets were a real good pellet. I had a meridian at the time and the burned hot and clean. I tried a pellet years ago called Narraganset Pellets. Absolutely the worst. Then I tried inferno and they became the worst. Then I heard that they came from the same mill. Never dared to try the new and improved inferno

IIRC, Infernals were actually ground up old pallets. Maybe jtakeman can refresh my memory if that's incorrect.
