Thoughts on this 028 on CL. Assuming it runs well. I definitely don't need it, but it seems like a good deal.

Decent price if it's got good compression. Those are just a kind of middle of the road firewood saw. Can't hurt to give it a look.

I'd pass if that is the buy it price. $175 might get it done.

My 2 cents, cash value $0.00

Good saws, but old now so the wear parts are in question along with the fuel system. “Pro” style bottom end and bearings. The price is a bit steep, yes.

If your bucking the 028 is nice but if your reaching and swinging it's a little heavy for me. Imo the 026 family of saws is perfect weight to power.

028 was a good saw in its time tough to get parts for even sproket is a expensive part and it has a drive gear assy for oil pump that is stihl only and I am not sure of availability of many oem parts its a little pricy for that saw if it runs well and compression is good 150.00 tops :salute: JB

Yea if you really need a saw is priced where it should be providing it runs good and need nothing...saw one of those cases sell at a local consignment auction bring 60 bucks...oil and chain cost something too...most stihl saws that vintage will bring 125-175 wether they run good or not...
