I planned to take it off in the summer time but some plywood and cushions could be a cool idea

Well after a hiatus, Matt’s wood burning adventures continue...

We’ve continued to get that smokey odor and found it was our partial liner falling apart, creating a stinky draft. Got a quote and ready to schedule having a full liner installed. What a pain...

I’ve almost finished my splits for the year, about 1 pickup load left to split and stack.

Then I need to paint the deck before loading up the wood rack on the deck. Man time just appears these days.

I did get an uglies stack made out of some old garden fencing the previous home owner left behind. These will be used for fire pit and maple syrup processing.

Thanks. We had a little boy in March and although he’s good company, he’s not running the husky yet haha

Well today the boys from Fireside Supply here in eastern CT removed the partial liner and installed a full height insulated stainless steel one. I like the “t” they put at the bottom for easier clean out. Good attention to detail including painting the connector to the stove with high temp black paint so it looked good as well as checking the stove over and repacking a missing piece of gasket on the door. Think Ill be paying them to clean the chimney going forward. Still not a height on the ladder I like.

Glad you are all set to start burning. Good looking young buddy y'all have there. Won't be long before he's running the splitter and saw. Enjoy every minute with him you can. They are grown and gone before you know it.

Hooray!!! I’ve finally finished splitting and stacking all the rounds I’ve had under the barn overhang. I forgot to take measurements to say just how many cord I’m up to but I’m done processing that twisted maple. Yuck! I’m far ahead enough now to be picky.

It’ll be nice to have the overhang back just in time for hunting season as that’s where the skinning rack and butcher table is set up.

Goodness what a relief that is. Now of course I’ve got to sharpen the saw because there’s a lot of trees about to be cut down by the power company. We’ve had 2 bad years of gypsy moths that killed many mature oaks. Needless to say any scrounging I do will be oak and not need split til next summer.

Me and a little man were home alone tonight while mama worked and had our first fire of the season. He liked watching the dancing flames just like the rest of us.

That Plumbing Pipe Log Holder is just what I need to build. I can load it at the back door and roll it through the kitchen to the den & stove area. Just have to watch the flooring threshold transitions so it doesn't drag me over. Glad you posted that, awesome!

Well we finally had a Saturday it wasn’t raining do dad and I planned to drop a couple dead trees that I’d rather have down on my own accord than mother nature’s.

It had been awhile since the 550XP had a good cleaning and did so with toothbrush and air compressor clean out, and sharpened chain.

Well after some gutsy winds moved in and the first snow flakes of the season we rescheduled. Besides loading up the deck wood rack was overdue. Needed to trim to the last of the good wood from the previous owners.

The Mrs was a great help stacking while little man played in the house on the other side of the slider. I had been meaning to add some more horizontal boards but never got around to it and wish I had. Missing out on some significant storage space due to stacking method. While cutting I had a good kickback and fully utilized the chainbrake. Feel like I punched a wall with my left hand/arm. Good reminder to stay mentally sharp.

It was great to get the stove cranking again. Still need some trial and error with the settings with the new pipe. Also got a fan back behind the stove that really helps warm the room but it’s a little noisy for my taste.

Almost done with the previous owners wood stack that is oversized for the stove. I cannot express how happy I will be not to have to cut splits to length!
