Wow! I haven't had so much as a cold in about 7 years.

Monday came down with a sore throat and low grade feaver. Tuesday morning it was off to the doctor who said I had strep. Spent the rest of Tuesday, Wednesday and most of Thursday in bed feeling like a bus hit me.

Friday I made it to the couch and Saturday I began to shuffle around the house and eat soft food.

Today I'm feeling much better, I'm actually hungry. I'm not ready to fell those last 2 big ash trees in the back woods, maybe in a couple of more days.

Point of the story? Simple; it sucks gettin' old!  When I was 25 this would have just been an inconvenience. When I was 45 I may have missed a day of work. At 65 it knocked me in the dirt! Boys and girls, don't waste your youth!:wacky::salute:

Ouch! I actually used to get sicker from colds when I was younger. Like go to work and they would send me home bad. Emerging from my apartment after 3-4 days and my landlord who could hear me dying asking how I'm doing, knowing I hadn't moved in days.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but it's been many years since it's been that bad

The last time I was really sick was 1989. I was in intensive care for 10 days with bacterial pneumonia that wouldn't respond to antibiotics. That almost killed me, literally

Glad you made it through, but that had to be miserable.

Topper! Lol. Well, I'd say you definitely have had a pretty good stretch since then, thankfully.

Good to hear you're feeling better Ralphie Boy. Give yourself some time before taking on those ash trees. They aren't gonna run away.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Illness at our age usually hits a lot harder.

When I was younger I used to get once or twice a year pneumonia and needing to take antibiotics and preferably one I hadn't taken before. I would curl up like a ball in bed with a ton of blankets and sleep and sweat it out.
The pneumonia was from a continual sinus cavity infection problem and I got that licked when I was 40 and the guaifenesin I take in Spring and Fall as needed is now generic and OTC.
But, back then once in the hospital, a nurse said if I wanted to get out of dodge to stay out of bed - to never sleep or rest horizontal with pneumonia - to sleep with the chest elevated. It works. To this day I keep a Lazyboy and if I ever get a hint of fluid or congestion in the lungs I sleep in the chair . I may not sleep well but that's my recovery doghouse.

Hope you're feeling better Ralphie. One of the kids brought the plague (flu) home from school about 10 days ago. Late last week, I got hit. 2 days ago, Mrs Blacksmithden came down with it. This morning, both of the other kids were sniffing and coughing. Every year, it's the same thing. The kids go back to school, and somebody brings it home for all to enjoy. I've still got it pretty good, but the worst is over thank goodness.

That's how I got it. My wife teaches school and she brought it home with her. She's been teaching so long she seems immune to virtually everything.

    You kids get well quickly!
