Pine clearing for the new garage build

The hamstring isn't tight anymore but every time the heel gets feeling better, I'm back on the ladder or the cement in the new garage doing a full days work so it's tender but still 50 percent better compared to the worst it's ever been.

I have to do something wood related so maybe tomorrow I'll either stack or go cut up a fallen tree.

 

Don't go re-aggravating anything.

 

That's like throwing a dare my way. The Hammy is fine,that was just doing something it wasn't use to. The heel is still at 50 percent so I'll take a day off from inside the garage on the cement and hit the woods tomorrow.

Hopefully by the end of next week, I'll have the workbench and some of the storage shelves up. Near the end of the month the boat will get winterized so I can get that in the garage where we want it. Once the boat gets in position then I'll bring the snowblower up and do the oil change.

Just when I start to feel better, I mention the intention of making a trip to the woods, and that's when 99 lbs says..."Nope".

No sense in pushing it just because you feel better for a day or two.

 

If I get good enough weather this fall, I'm thinking about waterproofing the outside of the cement blocks on the new garage. I don't want paint so what would be a good product for this job?

 

This is what we use at work. I think it does the job well. Although you roll this on like paint so it may not be what you're looking for.

 

Marvin , how does the clear Drylok work? It looks like we'll be using Drylok but the wife would like clear but if the above is the better than the clear, we'll use that.

 

I dont think there is a difference in effectiveness between the clear and the white. I'm pretty sure you can either paint it on with a brush or roll it on.

Good luck! I hope it works out as well for you as it does for us at work. We put a fresh coat on every summer but it is exposed to the weather year round.

Thanks for the info justdraftn , we'll be going with the Drylok clear chit if they have it, if not then the white. If the weather permits, I want two coats on it before winter.

Since we have a chit load of pine in our shoulder season inventory (a good 6 plus years) we started a fire in the Liberty tonight, that will keep the humidity down in the basement.

 

I used this product that I picked up at the local mason supply yard.



I started with a brush and went right to a cheap pump sprayer. It flowed really well and no clogging. I did a second coat the next day.



The house foundation will be done this fall.

 

Lowe's didn't have the clear Drylok so we went with Thompson's Waterseal, hopefully I can start on Friday.

I still have to put the workbenches & storage up in the garage, I should have between 12 -16 feet of workbench on the backwall . The storage on west wall will be two feet deep by eight feet long with about four shelves that size and next to the workbench we should have storage about four long with the same depth with four shelves and then I'll be close to done for this year.

 

I'm sure that will do the trick. Can't wait to see the pics when it's done

Won't be long til turkey day

 

The wife cooked a ten pounder about two weeks ago with stuffing and the mash taters, it was excellent.

I've been keeping my weight down (just over 213 this morning) so when the holiday eating season starts, I'll be ready.

 

Well Seasoned , this severe weather map has it starting east of us but it looks like you'll be in it with a bunch of other members.
