I have 3/8" chain grab hooks welded to the spine of my 6' scraper blade. I use 'slip' hooks on the log side. Choke your log, hook the chain at whatever length is appropriate to get the end of the log off the ground when the 3pt is raised to 1 of the 4 hooks on the frame of the blade. Works very well and allows me to still use the blade.

It is temping to lift the log high so it doesn’t catch on roots and rocks, keeps cleaner, and has less friction with the ground. However, the higher it is hitched, the easier it is to flip the tractor. My logging winch has a high point for pulling the log to the tractor, but then a lower point to pull from. The scoots are very nice because they keep the wood clean and can be pulled from the drawbar.

Managed to stack about 3/4 cord today, was gonna start splitting the 2 cords of rounds I have, but the wind kept me out of that area. I did buck 2 out of 3 sections of a maple that came down in a storm.

Best wood wheelbarrow ever! Hopefully after this rain and humidity passes I’ll be out doing the same thing. Next week maybe if Mother Nature cooperates. Good day for it today but you must be getting the rain by this time.

Nope! I'll be borrowing the work van this week so I have super vacuum power- this is mainly for the pellet stove and the push button whips, furnace cement if needed, etc. :D

Temps will warm this week although it will be damp.

Yes, the rain started about when you posted. I'll be hitting it hard as well in the coming days- but the rain ain't supposed to stop for another day and a half- then I'm sure we'll see remnants of Florence unless she decides to head back out to sea.

Wasn't sure where to put this but thought this thread may be the place. I am not shopping for toys right now with a baby due any day now but figured someone here may be interested.

I think we have five days in or near 80 coming in, I'm sure the humidity will come with the warm weather.

    This thread needs a bump.

Did more crossover work today, I'm officially calling it done for this year.

May place more large rock next year, we'll see.

Here is the first wood I'm after.

    first-salvage.jpg

Ash that split around 2 years ago, but I had no way to get to it other than on foot.

Perhaps 1.5 - 2 face cord in that section alone, and the other half of the tree is a bit larger in diameter.

You can get some idea of the hillside slope, it's pretty steep in my opinion.

    Good temps for work today.

Well, I was on the ATV when I took the crossover pic, on foot in the woods.

Not sure how far I'd take the tractor into the woods. I'm still getting used to it, and it feels "tippy" to me.

I'm sure I'll get more comfortable with it's capabilities as I get more seat time.

That new trail will likely need a drainage ditch dug to keep it from becoming a mud bog rather than a log trail.

Between rain and the springs here, some areas are never dry.

Any drainage/landscape professionals here? Can always use advice.

Chaz, check your kubota specs.. On some models the rear rims can be put on reversed to widen stance and add stability..

Looking at the rim, it looks like I'd loose maybe an inch if I reversed them.

Will consult the manual for it.

The only way you can change wheel spacing on a BX is to add wheel spacers.

Busy day today as tree killer knows- good talking to ya on the phone today! My son & I split & stacked about a cord this morning when it was a crisp 27.6°F

By noon we quit and took down the trellis's in the garden and pulled the onions as well as used the potato popper aka middle buster to bring up the potatoes. Below is a short video, but its kinda hard to see the potatoes popping up, but it was a fair harvest.
