Wife and little ones whiny about being cold. So I decided to burn the cob webs out of the ole timberline. Remember If she has to many clothes on put another log on the fire.
I started earlier this month. This year I have had a fire every month except August. Right now I am having a morning fire just about every day, and sometimes an evening fire. Not tonight though.
I was supposed to be going out cutting tomorrow but I managed to pick up a flu bug. I'm sitting 2 ft from the stove, shaking like a leaf with the chills. Just to add to the misery, theres about 4" of snow on the ground now from off and on flurries for the past few days. We're supposed to hit 10 or so above freezing by mid week. Between the extra rain we've been getting and the snow, the bush ought to be a sloppy wet mess. Oh well...that's why they invented rubber boots and 4x4s.
I predict there will be more and more of these "first fires of the season" in the upcoming weeks. Today just happens to be my first day of wearing long pants of the season. Sounds like a good excuse to eat leftover birthday cake to me.
