This week: Sugar Maple. Sweet! For the heck of it took a look on Craiglist the other night and the posting had just been listed. Was cut down a year ago and has been sitting like this ever since. How did it split? I would go after that too, nice score! Those grubs turn into stag beetles, big ankle biters. The grubs will bore into the wood.
It’s a little twisty because they are yard trees, but not too bad. I haven’t had to break out the wedges yet. I’ve just been working my way around the rounds using the combination of the Fiskars X27 and the Fiskars Isocore maul. But they are usually not just a one or two swing “pop”. And I think I swing pretty hard, but I usually use my splitter when I can so I am probably not nearly as proficient as others on the forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
