I really don't expect to be burning yet until late 3rd week of September. But sometimes times bands of colder air pass through... especially at night here in the Pacific Northwest. I may have to burn sooner... though I probably can get by with the wood stove for now. Are you burning yet?
Had one small fire to chase off some dampness before the hot and humid air came back. So, I'd say that I have yet to begin burning in earnest.
here in the philly/jersey area around middle of October i start and it's really only nights when temps drop to 50 degrees or so..
Used the stove a couple of nights last weekend just to get the chill out . Tried some HD Carrage House pellets they burnt pretty clean for that short period.
If I burn in late September, it's less than half a bag. But the mornings can be chilly. Plus I am married.
Ran the furnace one night for a couple of hours only cause I haven't put the stove back together yet.
I ran out of pellets last winter. I have two sets of snow tires occupying the pellet skids in the garage right now. Figure I'll order in another month or so.
Most years, I start to burn a little after Halloween. But this year, even Mid-Sept. feels like July, so perhaps I will not start burning until Thanksgiving.
Lit the stove off this morning, just a small fire, 44 last night, so it was a little cool this morning, Getting more like fall every day, still riding the bike though have to get some use out the new battery i bought a couple of wks ago. I'm in the PNW
No burning here in Tacoma either. 54deg at night, house never gets cooler than 68 by morning. Still running around in short sleeves. Have new fire bricks for the wood stove but still need to cut a few to fit. A matter of an hours work!
Last weekend I started the main floor stove the morning of 9/9 since it was 64* inside and wasn't supposed to get over the low 60's (and overcast/rainy). I had the stove on until Tuesday morning. Doesn't look like I should need it again for another couple of weeks.
Believe me, I didn't want to, but I did want to keep the house at 68*. because a sweatshirt just wasn't cutting it.
