Finally got the shed filled last Sunday and the rains came that evening. Sold tw0 cords of Fir that I had gotten and split recently. It was seasoned but very light with large growth rings. I decided to let it go to make room for more BTU dense wood for next year. The shed holds slightly less than 7 cords and still have about 3 out front so I have room again for 2 more cords! Time for another visit to the log yard! Wif is happy the woodshed is full, unhappy that I'm getting more!
How could a wife not want more sculptual art like that in the yard? You could charge admission just to look.
Some of these are replies are hysterical and well said!!! Am pretty much drooling looking at that wood shed, absolute thing of beauty......well done!!!
I’m a little jealous of the shed and the stacks. Beautiful job! I can’t imagine the wife being unhappy about that, mine sure wouldn’t.
Second pic, 3rd column over, 10th row down.... GAP. Unacceptable. Do over. JK metalcuttr You simply don’t do a bad job at anything, and that is fantastic.
Fantastic job. Those stacks are photo worthy. Not to mention it's a good feeling to have your winters wood tucked away.
I'm so embarrassed. I'll try and do better next time. Now I just feel like taking the whole stack and burning it!
I really like that shed! What are the approximate dimensions? How tall are you stacking? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As a mason who spent his life stacking things I must say, impressive! You may have missed your calling. Your stove isn’t afraid of big chunks I see. You’ve got some allweekenders in there
The posts are 10' X 12' inside measure and I am stacking slightly more than 7' high. Building codes only allow 10' X 12' without a permit. When I did this many years ago I fudged a little on the measurements. When I built my attached shop a while back the building inspector gal took me to task because it was slightly too large. She said she was going to report me for having built a "garage", not a woodshed, without a permit. I told her to do what you gotta do but you will look awful silly when I show the judge a picture of the "garage" filled with 6 and a half cords of wood! Nothing ever came of it!
I always leave a few larger blocks of straight grained stuff. They make for stable stack corners and give me bit of splitting fun while I load the wheel barrow to ferry a few days wood to the garage. I also intersperse my fatwood splits throughout the stacks so every week or so I can split up a couple buckets of 1/2" kindling. Takes way some of the boredom of loading and wheeling! That is my Wif the "Cleaner Shrimp" at work. When I finish the bigger stuff, she comes along and details the stack area.
Your stacks are an engineering marvel metalcuttr ! You should be awarded an honorary PhD in firewood stacking from the University of Washington.
