The large amount of rain that we have been getting is bad enough....what I'm really concerned with is the wind we may get from florence.....too many trees around us that can do alot of damage..

You're correct there, wind after heavy rains is never a good thing.

Looks great Grahamt , a little drizzle never hurt a beer or pizza.

I did. Four loads of this. .8 cord a load. Four more and he is set. Use to be more younger kids around that would cut wood. I don't mind really. I just don't normally cut more than 12 to 15 cord a year. I'm at 25 and still have another elderly lady to secure for the winter. Her son came out of retirement, and moved to Nevada.

Lodgepole is the wood. All of it was piled up dead fall. About 8 to 10% MC. Too late to fetch anyone fir.

Yep. Grubex will take care of them. They come to dig the grubs - kill the grubs, skunks leave.

Not 35 here but 50 and very thick fog. Supposed to start warming up today. 73 predicted. I think 80 by the weekend.

Down into the 50's last night and finally started the first fire of the year. Burned a bunch of excess cardboard and that was enough to take the chill off the house. Of course it is going to 80F today and 85F tomorrow so not to worry, we are not done with A/C yet. I think it was Mark Twain who said: 'If you do not like the weather in New England, wait a minute.'.

We finally had a bit of rain yesterday! The weather is cooling, weve had frost a number of times now and some of the leaves are turning. We are still on an outside fire ban and my wife says she doesnt want the stove lit until that is lifted. Im ok with that, the ban should be lifted any day now. I cleaned the chimney and stove on Sunday and did some more stacking. Currently we are at 3c/37f.

What a big sky you seem to have there.
And such a regal, handsome, guard dog.

It's still warm here. Too warm to have an inside fire.

Now, campfires, yeah. I'm hoping my friend has his usual friday night campfires.

    Clem,
For you, it's not a hurricane. It's a "wood scrounging opportunity"
Plus, your neighbors will thank you.
