I mean, hypothetically, I would just put the chain back on for him..and show him how to do just that, adjust it, etc. I don't really believe in ripping people off although this guy is obviously a gigantic target for it, lol. I know how it is to be the only guy I know who's into a few specific hobbies where if I need help or advice, my resourceful side has to kick in and I have to just research it myself. Apparently this guy just doesn't have that part of the brain. On one hand, I feel bad for him and everyone making fun of him. On the other hand, he just totally deserves it.
MMMM! Zender's. I was there last year. I didn't think it was as good as it use to be. Of course it had been 15 years since I was last there. Maybe older taste buds?
Reminds me a bit of myself several years ago. I bought a brand new Stihl 026 and went out to try to use it after reading the manual from cover to cover. Sometimes it started fairly easily but other times it was a real PITA to start. I more or less gave up on that saw because it was so darned hard to start most of the time. More recently I joined this and other forums and watched a bunch of videos of people using saws and learned how to go about starting a saw. I was basically flooding the engine every time way back when because I was treating the choke as if it were the choke on an old fashioned 4 stroke engine. Yes, I was driving cars with manual chokes as a young adult. When I finally figured out what was meant by taking the choke off as soon as I got burp I found that 026 easy / peasy to start. Sometimes it is just a case of seeing it done right to figure out what you are doing wrong. My experience at a young age with manual chokes had me doing it all wrong and the written material that told me to start the saw without the choke when the engine was warm helped not one bit. There was no internet when I bought that 026 so doing on-line research was not even possible back than.
Many years ago when I was in my teens my neighbor had an electric chainsaw and could not get it to cut. I looked at it and told him the problem, The chain was on backwards would never think to charge for such advice.
I would question there ability to use it safely. Someone needs to show them how to properly use it. Learning by your mistakes can be quite a experience with a chainsaw.
Been there done that. Had trouble starting some saws in my day. Read the darn book and did it the way it says and off they go. I guess sometimes these tools know more about the instructions than we do.
There’s a cap for that oil tank? What page is that information on? I thought my saw was only good for felling.
you are correct, my BIL decided he needed to cut down a decent size tree, bought a chainsaw, proceeded to drop the tree on his shed and fence. Never used one before but he is of the school he is smarter than everyone and can do it better himself.
