All the lawns were brown around here until about a month ago. Now people are mowing as often as they do in the spring.
To do one load of washing and runs dishwasher . Since midnight last night I have used £0 gas and £1.53 in electric , pond pump, uv light, air pump and 2 fridges running constantly are included Costing £0.06 per hour to run my house at the minute.
We're supposed to get a good soaking so I put fertilizer on the lawn, only time of year I do that. I burned the grass too many times feeding in the spring.
Well, the good part is that fresh cut grass does smell good. It won't be long before it will be leaf gathering time.
Temps and DP both fell to the 60s yesterday in an all day rain. I thought I smelled smoke, and later my fire-loving neighbor was over and mentioned that he was burning (open FP). Told him I haven't even removed the summer cap from my chimney yet. Was in the 90s Thursday, 80s Friday, 70s Saturday, and he burned Sunday. Probably hit 80 for the rest of the week. Currently 73 and drizzle at the USNA.
Think we're stuck in a slightly cooler than normal fall, as I don't remember burning this often, this soon. Small fires mind you. Sitting at 9 C or 48 F, and should see 14 C or 57 F later today for a high. It's also the warmest day of the next two weeks according to the weather network.
It's a little cool in the house, in the liw 60's. Some rain outside. So, first burning to get the chill out of the house.
Good for you guys....I'm gonna need a 3000 gallon wet vac before i mow around here......there's 1/2" to 1" holes all over my yard now....somethins comin out or coons or skunks are diggin it up...wish I could figure it out...
High of about 55 here today, so the house has quite a bit of chill. I think I'm gonna bust down some 4x4 oak boards at work and fire up the stove to take the chill off. Still can't quite bring myself to start burning my actual firewood quite yet...
Its funny how antsy everybody gets to start a fire...including myself...I have a block off plate bein made so I hope to hold off until I put that in...still 69*s inside....was 49* at 6:00 this mornin....up to 59* now
We had 49 this morning so I ask the wife, do you want a fire and she said no but I put some pine in and we had a fire while having coffee. I was hoping we would get some good rains so the forest floor is wet so I can burn in the outside fireplace tomorrow, I need to get rid of some pine branches and splits.
South of Potsdam NY in the foothills of the Adirondacks. Part of our town is in the Adirondack Park but not us. I like it nice & wet out so I don't burn down the Adirondack Park.
