I’m eyeballing Saturday evening and/or Sunday morning as the best bet according to our local forecast. High of 94 with a dew point of 74 today. Nice inside though, 71 and 55% humidity. Gotta love the heat pump in this weather! I’m looking forward to switching it to heat mode though. Sooner the better. Shouldn’t be using it much this winter
I must be old fashion or who knows what, but I find that stove to be one of the most best looking stoves I've seen. I really like the detail and the soap stone look. Very pleasing to look at. so much better than the fins with the cut outs. There is a stove for everyone, and your stove fills the bill for what I would be looking for. You waited much longer than most folks would. It paid off for you. Good luck with the break in. Hope it doesn't stink too much.
Just a little hint here. On the thermometer on the stove top, we find it best to have it just about centered.
Not sure how much new stove smell that thing is going to put off, but that would be great weather for some break-in fires (not too cold that you can still open your windows).
Yes we do. Our pipe goes horizontal from the stove so we'll get different readings than you do. I have it about a foot or less from the stove.
Thank you savemoney! The looks sold both the wife and I and we’re definitely a little old fashioned. Nothing wrong with that!
Might want to paint those air setting hash marks or set up a small light to shine right on the rear/back of the stove. The Mark's are really hard to see back there And get your stove gloves ready! There is no part of that stove that you'll want to touch with a bare hand!! Especially the door latch! Trust me...
Great looking stove you are going to enjoy it a lot. I have one upstairs you can pretty much set it and forget it
Thanks again Dennis! I thought that’s what you meant, and that matches the recommendation in the manual. Someone else told me it should be nearer the outlet because the SS heat shield prevents the center from heating up as quickly... I won’t mention who lol. I’ll trust your experience. Thanks for the picture, now I know how your wife uses the warming stones for cooking. I’m really looking forward to that. Nothing like a good soup cooked on the wood stove.
Oh yeah, cast iron gets warm lol. I bought a nice new pair of 932F welding gloves just for that purpose. I am thinking about some fluorescent paint on those hash marks because you’re right they’re very hard to see with old eyes especially. I have one of those push on led lights I’ll use back there initially until I figure out something more permanent. I’m thinking about a couple spots for the stove and hearth on a separate switch but I think the paint would still help a lot. Anyone else paint theirs yet? I’d love to see some pictures. Thanks for the good words TD!
That will be a good deal for someone. Wish I had the space to put one in. I'm burning pellets in a pellet stove that looks like a big black $4000 box. Wife and I aren't up to using a regular wood burner with our physical limitations.
Hope you want to change your avatar soon to show off that nice new stove! Much better than an empty hearth.
Spent a little time getting the hearth ready and building some indoor wood racks. With the rack and the ring filled up we’ll have about a cord of wood inside. Seems like a lot, but we’ve already been through a 10 day stretch in this house with no electricity, so better safe than sorry. The racks are 4’x7’. The homer bucket is temporary. We’re looking for a kindling rack to replace the coal hod. It has a few pellets and a bag full of pine cones. Still have room for the beer fridge! The wood racks are normally hidden behind a pair of doors, inside the utility room.
