That's very kind of you! I am covered for this year. We have all kinds of wood around on the farm I can get once the weeds and bugs die I just dont like to go running through the woods this time of year so I browse CL when I can bum a truck
Tonight’s load. I underestimated this one. Didn’t air up the bags and a few miles down the road I hit bump stop. 90# later, all was good. Big chunk is no more.
Hit it hard today. Heat broke and storms really cooled the temps. Packed it in there. I hate woodn’ w a cap. Then I had to tackle this beastie. There was a light fixture in it.
That was a huge load! Going to borrow a chain to pull the other log out of the weeds. Hope to be back at it tomorrow.
Slight break in the rain. I worked in a light drizzle. Actually felt good! So I clear this last tree a bit. Not knowing what it was, I initially feared I smelled elm. But when the inside revealed itself, had to be poplar. My saw went through it like a lightsaber! I don’t know my leaves. Turns out it’s tulip variety. I cut a few rounds off the trunk end. The rest was on a very steep bank, which is why I yanked. I forgot I had a tow strap, so I used it.
Wish I had the equipment to bring home two lengths of this. Would have made excellent cant wood. And,, I’m done. If the lady landowner wants anymore clean up, I’ll oblige. Think I may send her a $20 gift card to the local Sheetz. This oak will keep us warm for a good clip and the poplar will allow me some play time w my “race” chain hobby.
Definitely tulip poplar. Strange how the bark looks so similar to ash. But the wood looks much different.
I think I'm going to cut a few blocks of it for my dad to use on the lathe. Very nice color on it. Definitely not made by Timex.
Split a load of this oak today. Then quickly realized I had no open slots in my stacks for it! So I spent the next two hours or so moving a double split row into the basement to make room. About 830-5 playing with firewood today. I’m bushed! (Got 2 loads of CL wood for my dad before starting my own).
