I built mine to handle big stuff with ease. The way I do it is to split where the tree falls so I just back down the trunk, throw to the sides and come back later to load from both sides of the path into the truck. High rail height saves the back.

Stabilizer feet to keep it all solid and able to level it so the boom has zero lean.

Swing away tables is a huge plus. Slip on wedge and I have a 4 way for it.

Full auto cycle valve, 22 HP motor , 28GPM pump with bypass valve. Cylinder is a 5 x 30 Prince Gladiator with adjustable stop.

Normal split routine is to split one side, swing away. split a chunk off the other side and swing the boom out of the way with the hanger still on. Clear the tables and then finish the hanger. Wood never hits the ground until it is split to size. Cable winch the drags them in and lifts has a cordless remote so you just walk with it. Makes it real easy and you can do it by yourself if you have to with no strain.

Here you can see the process.

Kinetic are faster on cycle time but I split bigger stuff so it doesn't fit my operation. Not into production for sale so I need an all in one which this is. By far, the nicest one I have ever run.

Split a little wood this morning (pictures later) after fixing a small hydraulic leak. Last time the engine ran was at our gtg in April. One pull and it started right up. Also, we just use regular gas and do not drain any if some if left in the tank. Never had a problem doing this with any engine.

Thought it was going to be much cooler for splitting but that happened yesterday. Still, our humidity has not dropped much. The last time I looked before heading out it was temperature of 72, dewpoint 64 and humidity 64. I suspect that will be going up as more rain predicted starting tomorrow night and lasting for several days. Yuck. I won't split much more wood with that coming on.

20180819_114701.jpg This is the splitter my dad built in the mid 70's it has been reworked a few times since. I posted a couple weeks ago the beam broke 20180821_085946.jpg This showed up the day before yesterday 95* 20180829_135628.jpg 20180829_150358.jpg

Finally got it all together. The valve leaked had to take it apart and tighten the nipple into the valve. Now to get some time to try it out.

Glad you like it! I have a 35T DHT also and am very happy with it. My one gripe is that the choke and gas shut off can be confusing. I took a white paint marker and wrote "choke on off" and "gas on off" with arrows so I would always get it right! It is neither the most delux nor the cheapest but seems to be a well built and thought out machine for the marketing level it is in. I hope it helps keep you and yours warm and toasty for many winters to come!

I really miss my old homemade / modified aplitter. I bought it from amateur cutter and this is what it looked like.

After I went Pallet Pete OCD ( like I usually do to things ) on it and bought a new motor, more powerful pump, made a lift with a winch and stripped it all back to the frame. It got fresh paint and by the time I got done it was fast and as close to a log processor as I could get.

It is still in use I sold it because my legs are so bad that I couldn’t bend that far without being in to much pain the next few days.

The gentleman that I sold it to splits easily 20 full cord a year so I must have done something correctly they use it hard..

Thanks, it's the same color as my ATV and a couple other things I have. Also, I can see it easier at night so I don't smack my knee on the tongue.:hair::headbang::(. Not to mention, "safety orange" was fairly plentiful "IF" you know what I mean...

    Nice rig campinspecter.
I’d like to know more about that log dog. I’m rigging up a similar setup on my splitter in a horizontal position. First thought was to use a set of tongs. Even bought a decent set. Now that I have them I’m wondering about having them swinging around my face and head while working.
That log dog doesn’t look like it would rip me to shreds if I make a bad move LOL.

Guessing the idea is to eventually split it out of the log. How’s that work in practice? Get it every time, most times or is there the eventual struggle followed by cuss words?

Know of anyone still selling those? Me thinks I want one ;)
