Campground owner said we can plant trees or shrubs. Being a new campground and we are antisocial we chose a site that we have a vacant lot on one side and 3 on the other side. However the owner said that there has been interest expressed on at least one of the neighboring lots. We are now contemplating what would be some relatively fast growing shrubs to get growing on the lot lines to be undercover visual/physical barriers to encourage our exclusion from potential overly conversational neighbors, rambunctious kids, and unrestrained pets violating our serenity. What would be some good options for; 6-10 foot tall, full bushy, partial sun, zone 3 hardy, non suckering/low maintenance shrubs?

Of course Leyland Cypress grows quickly, but is susceptible to bag worm infestation (if they exist out there)....
But I still vote for “fence”.....:rofl:

You must summon a Shrubber to get the proper shrubbery.

buy the other lots or move. Why would you go to a campground if you want privacy ??

Its not that I don't think that people can't camp there because I am there, I just want them to camp on their site. I have been to too many campgrounds where people have no respect for personal space and next thing you know their dog left a pile by my grill, a kid is playing ball and bouncing it off a window, and parents don't parent and we end up the jerks when we tell kid to throw the ball at mom and dads camper and pick up your dogs poop. The sites are 50x200 so there is plenty of room to do your stuff on your lot. Maybe it will be better here but in past situations it hasn't worked well and that is why we moved here. I wish we could buy but it is only seasonal lots. We stay to ourselves and our camping time is sacred look over the lake and meditate staring at the fire time. I'm just looking for a socially acceptable way to keep my little slice of heaven from being too "peopley". Many times social people don't grasp our want to be left alone and take offense when all we want is to be left alone because they can't grasp why someone doesn't want to talk or have radio blaring and dogs yapping because they live their entire life that way. Not saying that they can't, just don't get it on me is all we ask.

Hence the reason we basically quit campgrounds. It is rare for use to go to one.

I can relate to that. My wife and I have very low social needs, and it is a challenge when people we like (from work, church, etc.) want us to spend more time with them. We hate to offend, but I think it often does when we decline to join in.

I remember years sgo, my buddy Bill and I went camping at Liberty campground in the White mtns of New Hsmpshire. It was late October and the camp ground was officially closed, but you could still use the sites.

We got there mid-day, picked a nice site with a large rock on the back side of the campfire to reflect heat. Got set up and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. There were a few other campers scattered here and there around the campground.

Well, as the sun was setting, we hear a car nearby, and it pulls into a site right next to us, and out pours a few kids. Young, noisey kids. Nothing against kids, but really? An entire campground, and they decide to go right next to us.

Not one to be subtle, but devious, I waited until mom and dad got out of the car, and took an empty coca-cola can, threw it noisily against the rocks , and said loudly, "Bill, hand me another beer". Mom and dad reloaded their car and drove to the other side of the campground. Mission accomplished.

Ok, back on track to my question. What would be good shrubs for zone 3 that are low maintenance 6-10 feet tall and moderately fast growing? Coworker said to look up Wentworth Viburnum. Anybody know anything about them?
