.....because I never use it anymore. It's rare that I actually let a chainsaw go. I like hoarding them too much! But the time has come and I'm gonna let my slight modded Stihl MS310 go to a guy I work with.

It's a fairly low hour saw that I bought cheap a few years back. It was in great shape, the price was right and I said why not.

I ported the muffler, put a new carb on it and used it for bucking tops for several years, it's been sitting since I put my 034 back together, and my buddy needs a firewood saw, so it's going down the pike tomorrow.

I gave it a tune-up, blew all he gunk and crud out of it, dressed the bar and sharpened the chain, it will serve him well.

It's actually pretty impressive with that ported muffler.....I'll kinda miss it, but that just frees up some space for another saw down the road....lol

Sounds like your doing someone a favor and at the same time getting a little cash that could be used for something else. Good for them good for you.

That's basically what is happening here....

He's a good friend looking to do some firewooding up at his camp. His family's camp is where I tore that hand hewn barn down and got all the barnwood lumber for my house overhaul, including the big hand hewn mantel on my fireplace.

If your wife knows you are selling one of your toys, does that mean you will have to take her out for dinner someplace nice cause she knows you have some extra cash? :cheers::chef:

Yeah, I shed a tear or two. But one thing is, I know where the saw went, and he'll be bringing it back to me for tune-ups and maintenance from time to time.

So I'll get to at least see her and hold her in my arms again someday.....

The 290 was on plenty of state and federal purchasing contracts. I can’t remember how many of them we sold to DOT shops. It was in the hundreds for sure.

They're really good "entry level" saws for firewood'n and medium duty stuff. I hear-tell that there's a mod where you can install a 390 P/C on them and make quite the sleeper.

I had intentions of doing that but my buddy needed a good saw for a reasonable cost so I hooked him up with this 310.

You can install 390 guts in any 029/290/310.
