I call horse hockey on their fear mongering. Mother nature puts a billion times more soot into the air than we do every forest fire season here in Canada. The entire western half of the country has been covered in smoke for weeks now just due to the fires in British Columbia (our western most province) alone. I've really had it with these "journalist" types and politicians, constantly trying to pit us against each other whether it be on burning wood, guns, car emissions, plastic packaging, and every other dammed thing out there. Some days I'd like to take the whole of the media and stuff them all in my stove. At least theyd be doing some good for once.
Welcome to the new modern mantra. This kind of stuff is going to happen worldwide. They have no real idea of the science behind proper woodburning, modern stoves and modern practices on seasoning like we preach here at FHC. One-sided politics at its best. Kinda like these PETA folks, who preach against slaughter of animals yet drive cars with leather seats and wear leather shoes....lol
The EU is more self destructive than a meth head, or alcoholic. They are not far off from importing camel dung to burn. Anyone been around a bunch of cars burning? Not a very clean burn!
Years ago, I got talked too about that quote, while I was in the military. I had to remove the bumper sticker from my truck. Same with having Dead Racoons in my truck from trapping. Officers just melted with the offense of seeing something dead.
Military Commanders are very averse to the "court of public opinion". One will do nothing to tarnish the vision or reputation of the service. My ex actually bounced $500 in bad checks, I wanted to leave her in jail, I was told, in no uncertain terms, that was not gonna happen. As to the raccoon's, that makes no sense if they are inside the vehicle.
I had thought of this earlier, but no time to post (was at work at the time), but my father was always against the "deer parade" during hunting season, where people drove from bar to bar with their deer strapped to their vehicle. I asked him why once, he told me.. "That's where the anti-hunting crowd get's their ammunition to get others riled up and on their side. A lot of people don't wanna see dead critters paraded all around town." He also thought it was disrespectful to the animal as well, but, his statement made perfect sense. I am NOT trying to infer that you were cruising around with 'coons hanging all over your truck, just that the raccoon statement made me think of my fathers teachings. As an aside, the UK is no longer part of the EU.
I understand. I am from a different time and place if you will. My greats had a large part in raising me, and they were born in the 1800s ofcourse. They came from Austria mostly, and seeking freedom fled the north when they were able. Montanas' heritage was founded by us trappers. We aren't concerned with offending certain folks. Ecspecially now. We disrespect dogs when we neuter them and pretend they are humans. Not concerned overly about delicates that pass out while walking by the meat isle. No big deal though. I love our republic. You seem like a great guy too.
Thx, I take that as a compliment. I do understand your sentiment quite well. Far too many are "thin-skinned" and take offense at everything that makes them the slightest bit uncomfortable. I do not understand how they figure that the world must change to accept/accommodate their wishes/desires at the expense of everyone elses. It is even more infuriating to be labeled as "intolerant" when disagreeing with them, even while they themselves are intolerant of the opposing viewpoint. But, before I go on a complete rant about the current state of affairs, let me say that although I've never been to Montana, it seems like a good place to be. Be well, and carry on proudly.
