Went hiking out in the woods with a friend. Yesterday was a beautiful day. Clear skies, 56. Fresh air. Ended up eating some cool snacks picnic style, including being introduced to spinach and artichoke hummus. Finally, a break from this bleakness!

I need to get the mower prepped. Things are really greening up around here...I might be mowing by the weekend.

I think I'll sharpen blades and change oil tonight. Come to think of it, just about every 4 stroke engine I own is due for an oil change.

Supposed to get another couple inches of rain over the next 24 hours.

Hanging out at home with my ten year old today, he is home sick.

I'm going to take advantage of the extra time off and get registered for summer college classes and get some housework done.

I used to rent the power sweeper, it really does a good job. you have to wear a dust mask . The sweeper is heavy and I can't handle it anymore. The town rips my lawn up, plows snow 13 feet off the road into my hedge, and does nothing about the mess. On the opposite side of the road, they don't even plow to the edge of the road. All woods there.
Now, I just raise the mower deck up and try to do the best I can with the rider. I have clumps I just go around. It used to look so neat.

Tiller, splitter, ATV, mower, truck, and van are all due.

4 filters, 20 quarts of oil, and a few hours of grease monkeying. And two beers.

I drink 40's when I'm changing oil. I think that's pretty common, no?

Raining and mild here this morning. Almost 11 am and I'm still in my sleeping gear trapped in the "time suck" of the internets.
Gonna' throw on some goretex and get outside soon. The old garage could stand some cleaning up, The saws are a mess, I gotta' few chains to sharpen,,,and a dozen other things that need attention.
Prolly won't be any of it get done today!! LOL.
Have a good one today. Peace.

Just finished registration for summer classes, with work hours all I can get is economics and supply chain management. Sounds like a great way to spend summer. Ugh...one more year, just one more year.

I did the laundry, moved pellets into the stove room, and activated a new cell phone yesterday, today I clean the stove and recover from what should have been an easy activation but wasn't.

Cell phone activation ranks right up there with trips to the DMV, might as well plan for a couple hours!

I've done 4 this year, exactly 0 went according to the instructions and that isn't counting the 3 number ports involved.

ETA: Stove is clean, now to restart it as soon as the temperature drops a few more degrees in the stove room.

Cleaned my stove yesterday. There isn't much to it with this stove. Only thing is it takes way longer for the total shut down and cool off time. Then chisel out the pot, take the vac and paint brush to the inside. There is one plate by the igniter that comes off and is vacuumed out. Ck the holes, wipe the class and I all set for the next burn.
Just noticed my temp thing says 60 f outside. I'm headed out now!

Snow's melting fast and is gonna get goner even faster with pouring rains tonight and tomorrow. Lots of water in the snow pack too, so… flooding concerns.

I pulled up more of the smaller pcs of the oak yesterday and rolled all of the logs up on the main pile this morning. I managed to inflict pain too… so THAT was good… Nothin serious, just folded my left thumb nail back on a piece of bark. Always my left paw (and I'm right handed. )

Been out using the splitter for for the first time, got the big maple trunk sections down to a manageable size and now I'm half way through the pile of manageable pieces. I think the worst of this tree is over, but I will probably be working on it all week-- still got a bunch of non trunk sections, not to mention the stacking, and sorting the small bits for BBQ fuel.
