Started splitting and stacking some firewood heard a loud pop thought it was the knot I was going through, Then I noticed this The beam cracked where the cylinder attaches. I guess after 40plus years it got stressed out.
I see older tractors all the time that have been welded up from cracks. Welded it up and you will be good to go.
QUOTE="TurboDiesel, post: 857913, member: 353"]Just 40 years?!? That should be under warranty!! [/QUOTE] That's what I thought. I would contact the Manufacturer (Dad) but he passed away in 1983. The beam, wedge and hyd. tank are the only original parts, replaced engine, hyd. pump, cylinder a few years ago (about 20), Guess I will have to get it welded may consider a new beam. Or maybe a new splitter!
Well JC, around 42 is when I began to get stressed out so perhaps this is the critical time. If it can be straightened it can be welded.
