I bought my CC GT1554 about 11.5 years ago. Still running great, as long as the mice leave the wiring alone. I did have an issue with the ign. switch, but that was replaced and no problem now.
It's no longer all shiny and new like that one. :)

The problem I have is that every time it gets used I have to wash it.

What wax do you use, Dennis?
I may have washed mine at some point in the past few years, but I can't remember. :picard:

As long as you are just cutting grass and no plans on using that as a plowing or pulling rig, you should be fine. The k46 trans has had its share of issues, if you look around. Many of those were from over working the unit. It's not meant to push U.P. snow, or drag wood around for a living.

I'd like to upgrade my mower, but not sure what units are worth buying. I do pull wood uphill to the backyard. Nice looking mower yooperdave

I think tuff torq gets a bad reputation because of misapplication. People think they are buying a garden tractor instead of a riding mower. Pulling a mower around your yard at a reasonable speed and as long as it's kept clean and free of chaff etc. they can provide good service. They don't hold much oil and heat up pretty quickly under additional loads, especially if it's being used near full speed.

You should be fine then. That single cylinder kohler should be good for a long time.

Now, I believe all cub cadets are made by mtd, I got 9 years out of my used mtd before the hydro tranny went. But I got it used, and it was 12 years old when I got it in 2008.

just upgraded my 1450 cub cadet to an 18 HP twin model unknown as it has a metal hood to replace the plastic one (that breaks easily). power steering :banana:and runs nice and quiet. My son collects them and sells off parts. he said it was a cyclops? replaced the WalBLOWS carb with different brand he had. it had some stupid electric fuel shutoff to keep the motor from backfiring on shutdown. kept messing up and had no adjustments. so, but i'm still in the 1980's somewhere before MTD time, but it runs super good and has a great cutting deck.

Nice machine. Do/did they offer a small backhoe attachment?

Is the tractor itself made by Yanmar or just the engine ? I can vouch for Yanmar being top notch. My Deere is completely Yanmar except the sheet metal. Mine's 10 years old and only just now needed a battery, that's the only repair I've ever done to it.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was entirely yanmar. I thought they got out of anything more HD than the lawn series that's made by mtd? Then again, I'm no tractorphile.

    Edit... Yep

Looks like they do make a backhoe for it.
