Looking to possibly switch from Verizon, which I've always had for a cell carrier, to Sprint...anybody have issues with Sprint? Seems like they have very similar coverage anymore...especially here in NEO. This will be phones and internet service...could save us ~60% on the monthly bill! They have a 5 line family plan for $120 mo, unlimited talk n text, 15 gig data per line...no contract to sign...just gotta have a sprint capable phone, or buy one...can keep our existing #s. Hard to find a down side here...(other than this means I gotta go to a smart phone )
Not sure about Sprint now, but six years ago friends with Sprint could not get coverage at my house. Not much help, but I will never switch to Sprint.
As I understand it, they (maybe everybody now?) have free "roaming" so as long as there is a signal from somebody's tower, you are good to go? Maybe I'm wrong...
I have no idea, but I work with a guy that switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and he and his family are not happy!! Interested to hear from others who are with other providers, good thread brenndatomu !
I had sprint awhile ago and it wasn’t the best for me. As you know I am all over though...if it works in your area it’s a no brained with the savings. For me Verizon has been the best in the US. AT&T when it comes to international
Sprint Coverage Map: How it Compares We switched to T-mobil for the two line senior plan and International (3G data usually) coverage only place I've lost signal is in the boonies in Arizona (so far )
Sprint was garbage 2 years ago for us, dropped calls all the time, I would not even receive calls lots of times. I'd get home and the wife would ask why I didn't answer my phone she called 4 times! Not a single ring nor a missed call. Wouldn't receive texts sometimes to. Was it the phone? Possibly, but it was one from the Sprint store. Who knows how many calls I missed from potential customers. That being said they were cheaper, and it was 2 years ago. We're with Verizon now. Still problems here and there but I believe it's mostly the phone.
have you checked this out Secret Cell Plans: Savings Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint Don’t Want You to Know About
No...but we will. We have not been under a contract in a long time...using used/older phones. Verizon doesn't really ever lower your bill, but as the competition forces them too, they will give you "more" for the money (usually more data)...
The only problem with those coverage maps is that they are only partially correct. Like the one in your link, it shows there is coverage at our place.Wrong!
It is funny Dave but where we live, we can't get Sprint. Yet, a mile from us there are folks who love it. But even they will tell anyone that they know the exact location just down the road from them where they lose signal. To get a great deal on phones, check out Walmart. There you can also get the cell plans that Tim referred to. They right now have a deal on a smart phone that cost under $50 (Sorry I don't remember the exact price but it was cheap). Neighbor bought one and is very happy.
I changed from Verizon to Sprint a few months ago so far the service seems about the same. We have 5 lines unlimited text, talk, and internet. They bought out my Verizon contract gave us buy one get one phones so I only paid for 2 phones plus the 5 th phone was free and 500.00 in the form of direct deposit to the credit union. Definitely a crazy deal for sure
Been with Sprint since Nextel days...18-19 years I think? Since Nextel anyways. Never have had the best coverage. Any decent sized municipality around me has LTE but it gets sketchy when you get a little rural. My plan is old...like 7 years I think on current contract? I renewed when they were selling a good Unlimited data (23g/month) plan. Free nights/weekends, free cell to cell anywhere in the US, free voicemail, unlimited text. Bill is $83/month for the one line. No throttling on my old plan (till after 23gigs), video streaming in 720/1080. I have hit the limit before and service is immediately throttled. lol So not really 'unlimited', but much more comprehensive than what they offer now. I'm clinging to the plan like a first born child. They tried to trick me to sign onto a new unlimited plan because it was cheaper and I spent about 2 hours on the phone with them, finally learning the key words...Legacy Plan. "Yes, I'll pay more because I get more." First two associates were clueless as to my concern. "Sir, this plan is cheaper?" I suppose they are used to dealing with folks who always want the cheapest thing available. All the providers have 'unlimited' offerings. Devil is in the details thereof. Sprint can be a pain sometimes as far as coverage, but works well for me most of the time...why I haven't jumped ship. If I get something that works, I usually keep it until it doesn't.
Couple guys at work reported "meh" results from Sprint in the past...I think we are gonna go sweat Verizon a bit...see what they cough up
I hate the bill, Verizon is the best network for me. I travel for work and can't really be without decent coverage running the risk of losing out on a potential contract. I have a couple friends who have different carriers, one Sprint and one T-Mobile. Supposedly the sprint phone will use "Verizon " towers. There are many times, in fact , multiple times on motorcycle trips where I have service and they won't.
Went back to Sprint last Sept. and went with Note 8 phones. Phones have a lot of nice features, but have had a lot of trouble with dropped calls, other party can not hear me, late textes, poor data, ect. Doing some searching and it sounds like there is a bug in the Samsung Sprint software, but they are not doing anything about it. Maybe T-Mobile will fix it, maybe not. Had Verizon for 2 years before and the service was great, but could not handle the cost plus I think they padded our data usage. Final straw was they claimed we used 6 gig in 1 afternoon. Not sure what we will do at this point. Good luck with your decision.
Im in the business.. i dont knowcmuch about plans or pricing.. but Im very up to speed on all carriers technology, capacity, what goes into each site and how its maintained... with that said, I see my phone as my life line..... its my bail me out of deep doo doo via 911, and I need it to work, not just want it too... VZW all the way in this comparison. Sprint is in last place by far of the big 4. There is a satellite tv company launching a new cellular system soon, it looks promising and will add competition.
