Wow that is a nice looking wood burner. We love pictures here! Welcome to the family. I know when I first came here I had given up hope on any real men left in the USA. I came here and low and behold they do still exist.

As I got older, and my skills with metal improved (welder by trade) I look back on all the stoves I have had and let go and realized they really could have been rebuilt. I did not get a chance to say this yesterday as I was busy, but I had a Vermont Castings identical to this and it was a great stove. I was 18 when I had it, barely a homeowner, but it burned really well. Sure wished I had kept it which is bad enough then you see Andy Taylor stove magic and I realize what I had given up. A Surdiac coal stove was another regretful stove that was mashed into the ground by a bulldozer.

Make "SURE" you burn it off outside if you can before bringing it in the house if you have fresh paint on there. You'll pray you did if you don't! Just fire it up as if it were a normal fire and don't over heat it. Take that from many folks here and lots of experience!

Great! Your house will smell so bad, it'll take a year to get that paint smell out. A quick funny story, I help a friend clean/rebuild and paint a Mama bear Fisher the he was going to put in his work shop. :) Came out very nice, I thought he understood it needed to burn off "outside" so while I was away, "on a ship in the USCG", He installed it and lit it... :eek:o_O:eek:o_O:picard:. I got an e-mail with every cuss word Webster or anyone else could think of and I was 2000 miles away ;) . I told him to burn it off "then" install it. He installed it "then" lit it off... The place stunk for a year!
