Loooking Great Pete! I love demo and then watching the progress as it comes back together and if I lived closer I would be more than willing to give you a hand !
Yes well BEER! I have half the ceiling down now and am about to do the second half. It’s scary how easily the drywall falls off no glue whatsoever on the back and the nails are all loose.... I almost got crushed on the first piece as it pulled two wothvot and went THUD on the floor. There’s no mud at all on any of the drywall and so far non of it has been greenboard or any other water / moister rated drywall... We went and picked up mold killer from rustoleum that is epa rated and has good reviews. Makes four gallons and is made for a pump sprayer. Hopefully the stuff works good!
Before we got this place, we looked at a gutted house about an hour away with black mold around the base of all the walls/bottom plates. Nope.
It looks like 95% of the mold was on the outside surface of the drywall but I’m not taking chances is getting killed dead! We bought the best stuff we could find... Ive been wearing a mask and suit the whole time too not taking any chances here....
Subfloor layers. I layer lanoleum, 1 layer tack board, 1 layer 1/2” plywood,1 layer laminate, 1 layer 1/4” plywood, 1 layer Mortar, 1 layer 1930’s tile of some kind, another layer of mortar, some sort of thin wood and last but not least subfloor planking. I haven’t been this angry in a long time! It’s taken most of a morning to get 1/8 of the subflooring layers up and out. I’ve finally resorted to using a circular saw to cut up small sections the sawzall demo blades do NOT last more than a couple feet then are dull! At least the saw blades haven’t started to fail yet.
Really hard to like that post. Just keep in mind how nice it is all going to look when you are finished.
Yep.....keep your eye on the prize, not the obstacles in the way. Lovin' the pics, Pete.......or not.
It’s an old house with lathe and plaster. Your predecessors took the easy way with fixing soft spots- you may be working through some asbestos as well so sorta take caution if you haven’t already.
