image.jpg Feel bad having just been keeping this under a tarp and started on clearing a spot back in the spring. Then the oak tree came down, septic field replaced and the new deck consumed the past few months.

Dug out two more pine stumps and was finally able to start cutting some grade on my build area this past weekend.

Plan is 24’ deep x 16’ wide with lean to bays on at least one side( probably both) for easy access to implements high enough for the ROPS
Still have some more trees to drop, but the afternoon monsoons have returned.
More pics of the build site when the rain lets up.

It’s raining again so no clearing or additional pictures.

Still conceptually figuring up my design.
Question for anyone in the know:
My plan is to have a 16’ span and cut gable rafters from 2x6 so there will be a 2x8 ridge board.
Is it acceptable to scab the 2x8 ridge to achieve my desired depth of 24’ long building?
If necessary I’ll double the 2x8 with staggered joints.

If you have collar ties or ceiling joists there will be very little load on the ridge ,the single 2x8 will be fine.

You can join your ridge on layoff, but I like to join between layoff and use a piece of plywood on each side for a gusit

    Thanks Walt
Collar ties were already in my plan just wasn’t sure if some other structural connectors were needed at the butt joint

Finally stopped raining, everything is mud though.
This on the right side, the four pines will be coming down one in the center is beetle killed already. This area is marginally level.

Looking back towards the driveway pine on left is the larger one in right side of pic above. Larger oak on the right was partially dead/ hollow this spring and is dead now. It along with the small beech on the right are coming down.

    Pictures uploaded out of order.
This is looking up from my driveway couple smaller trees on the right need to come down.

Big picture plan is to fit the pole barn in with the leanto so as to access implements without moving things around.
On the left side I’d like to put a wood shed with 3-4bays holding 3 cords each to store my 4-5yr hoard which continues to grow.

Yeah never did understand why they stopped the sidewalk other than running out of concrete. Driveway was gravel with the road a mix of concrete and asphalt when I bought it.
I had it paved cheaply ~9 yrs ago and that was looking pretty rough. Had the driveway concreted and most of the road done this past spring.
Possibly next spring will be lower part of the road and new sidewalk with poured front porch as originally front porch was a step down slab that someone built a covered porch and brought up to grade with old handmade bricks that are not level and grow algae like it’s their job.

Got the dead oak and one small pine dropped.
Little pucker factor on the oak hollow and leaning backwards. Nice to have the pulling power and traction of the kubota.

In todays day and age buy trusses, by the time you buy the wood spend the time cutting then setting them, buy trusses. If you need head room buy scissor trusses. Some old ways are just not worth it anymore.
