So this past thursday evening and most of the day friday I was out back clearing more of our property to make room for a few more wood racks. The area I was clearing had old decaying leaves and lots and lots of decaying and rotting wood. A lot of the wood had that white fungi or mold on it. However I was wearing gloves and pants.

Friday evening I noticed on my knees a small rash developing. Didn't itch or bother me so thought very little of it. Saturday came and our family left for a week vacation at the beach and I noticed it starting spread a little. Elbows, feet, ankles, one ear swollen, etc....Sunday on the beach I almost pulled my skin off as sun, sand and heat irritated it badly and 1st time it started to itch.

Has anyone ever had an experience like that? I know that mold and fungi is pretty nasty but I never in my life ever had a allergic reaction to anything. Thanks in advance!!!

Any chance there was some PI in the mix?

Sounds nasty but it could be one of several things. If it doesn't clear up then a doctor's visit is in order; preferable to a skin doctor.

I know PI is back there but I didn't see any in the area I was working But could have been. Funny thing is no itching and spreading. Wife talked me into urgent care visit since we are here all week. Doc said classic allergic reaction to something I came in contact with. Got a shot of roids in the arse and some to take orally along with some cream. Rain today so a good day to keep it outta the sun. Thanks fellas....!!!

Since you were covered, it seems odd that it's a reaction to the molds. Usually you'd have itchy sneezing runny nose watery eyes or asthma like symptoms...

Thanks fellas, just got back this past weekend! After the steroids shot and taking an oral dose pack the rash started to clear up within in a day or two. Glad it didn't really hinder the vacation. Not sure what caused it but leaning towards some funky stuff I was handling out back. Now yesterday I thought twice about going out back but said aww hec with it, and no reaction so who knows. Here is a pic of some the stuff I was handling and the area, nothing out of the ordinary. Just a lot of rotting and decaying wood with a lot of debris and leaves that have been sitting for years. One of the pics you will see some white fungi or something, I see that on a lot of the wood! Again I had gloves and pants but could have taken gloves off at some point and of course that stuff rubs against your arms and what not at times when handling it.
