Its ok ReelFaster ... Dennis asked me in a PM. How hard it was to get a chainsaw across U.S./Canada border.. He was trying to be sly.. I am just glad WeldrDave remembered to grab it at GTG.. There is a story there too!!

I am just happy the saw is being used and still helping to keep a house warm... The rest is just FHC brotherhood (and sisters too) doing what we do. Glad you are a part of it!!

Thank you Canadian border VT, I am truly glad to be a part of it. It's opened up a whole new world to me that I thoroughly enjoy! Dennis & Dave were able to share with me a little of that story about almost driving the saw back to Michigan. Some really good wholesome folks on this forum and it is truly a FHC brotherhood (and sisters) :handshake:

I've dropped the ball on this. ReelFaster eatonpcat I'll start a pm in the morning when I get to work. Iirc the take off bars I have are 74 drive link .325 .063. Pretty sure you need a 67 or 68 DL to work with the old chains, but I can't read the pics above on my small phone screen to be sure. If those won't work, I've got plenty of all the usual bnib bars.

Anyone read those pics and confirm dl?

Shouldn't the # of links be on the chain?

Huh, perhaps it's an Oregon chain thing, but mine have it stamped on.

    S62 chain, 62 DL

It's an Oregon thang. You gotta manually count stihl drive links when that's all you have to go by without bar numbers.

Awesome!! Cause that old bar with the nice art work will be hung at the Savage residence. And stories will be told..

But the story won't work if you run out of wood!!:hair:

If it's the same as what was on a 029 super, it was typically a .325, .063 x16".

But, this is a ms290, so out could be different.

Great story though, you have to love what this community does for each other.
