Yeah laminate wood flooring isn't meant for bathroom use. Now, if you use vinyl plank flooring, it's 100% waterproof.

I'd use sheet vinyl it's solid and water can't penetrate. The sides yes but you can even put silicone there

Don't forget its only for 1 year...our kitchen laminate wood flooring still looks like new...and its 15 years old...really impressed with it...its not waterproof either, but I'm sure a bathroom would see more "wet" than the kitchen does

Yeah, for 1 year it won't matter.

We have laminate wood flooring in our house as well. It's in the stove run where we spend most of the time. It's been in for 10 yrs as it was put in just before we bought the house.

It's ok. It's definitely dentable if you drop a split on it.

Laid some of that same stuff (laminate but not the vinyl) in the kitchen about 18 years ago (?) and it still looks great. Not a wood laminate, just the wood look.

Thinking out loud, I still have some wide velcro from baby proofing cabinets when kiddo was little. I could staple one strip on the perimeter of the floor, then glue/caulk the other side to the back of the carpet. Removable, no heavy tools to lift/swing, and I won't have to take the toilet out. Need to think about how to make a template if this idea flies.

I don't see a direct competitor either, maybe that's not a bad thing. I think I worded that statement wrong. never know, this could be when gm gets that setup right, maybe not. Manufacturers do improve sometimes, but I admit if I were buying one of those trucks new, I'd be getting the 4.3 or 5.3. Same with the ford, I'd get a 5.0.

I wasn't necessarily referring to any 2 engines in particular, but if I had to choose between them tonight, I know no more about the 2.7 ford than that Chevy 4 cyl. I don't trust ford or gm's word on testing or anything else, and I haven't heard any real testimonials from owners, especially those that may have put on 100K-200K and more in the 3 or 4 years it's been out. Not to say they aren't out there, I haven't looked. When/if the 2.7 has a decade and more behind it like my 4.6 does, and most of them have close to or over 200K miles and a few have double that or even more, it'll earn my respect.

That being said, I'm just perhaps a little too skeptical of newer introductions. Honestly I don't expect engines to be a real problem, they rarely are. The 5.4 3V and it's timing issue is the closest thing to an unreliable engine the big 3 has put in a full size truck this century that I can recall, and all the well known engines from decades prior are remembered fondly, at least reliability wise if not power wise. I'd be more worried about the trans, given that they often do wear out long before the engine. Wouldn't be anything new there. I expect most of the trucks (minus those in salt free climates) will rust in half, running perfectly. Nothing new there either, but I'm curious to see how long the thinner frames hold up.

You would think after all these years they could solve the horrendous rust issues on trucks, vans and any vehicle that has commercial or personal use. Living in the northeast will usually turn a vehicle to scrap long before the engine wears out.

Go to TractorByNet look up @DiamondPilot heck by now he probably has 300 on one of the Eco boost and his dad has one too. He loves the things, tows heavy trailers etc and talks it way up, I think some pushing 10k. He is very ford biased though. Anyone that has spent 20 mins on that site knows who he is. Great guy, helps a lot and knows a lot, haha but will trash a Che y or dig at one almost any chance he can get. It's like a joke now.

The proof will be in the pudding soon, but when did went to all alloy body and bed on the 150, they should have solved this issue. Yes, I know that they've been using aluminum alloys for hoods and such for closing in on 20 years. Some manufacturers have gotten better with that. Some have never had rot issues with the alloy panels. There's a ton of variables.

They can, they just wont. They want you to buy a new truck. They throw on all these luxuries and charge double price, I'd rather pay double price for a base model that won't rust.

My belief is they all have a philosophy on durability. Make them last long enough that the customer will hopefully buy their product again instead of going elsewhere, but no so long that they'll lose the money simply cause the old one still works. They don't always get it quite right. You have trucks that are known to rust sooner than others, like gmt800s, the older toyotas, and the rear section of the frame on 10th Gen ford's. My front section is like new, rear is giving out :(

Ironically, putting more miles on the engine can help save the frame and body, sitting is the worst thing for them rust wise. My distant cousin had a gmt800, over 350K miles and only real rust was the rockers. Whereas for example I found one a while back with....I think it was 60K. Body looked perfect, frame was shot. Same thing with the 99 ford I had, 103K miles and I knocked this out of the frame......that was just the front section, had the rear rebuilt and then the front went.

Haha. One of those. I somehow think there's far more 5.3s with that mileage than ecoboosts. And even more 350s. Maybe that will change, the eco just hasn't been around long enough for the same number to reach that mileage.

Upon being asked to recommend a new truck out of 2 or more choices, my response is, assuming similar price, get the one with the best warranty cause they're both/all gonna break.

I call Ford's two motors Obama motors. Literally used free money to r&d and build them.
They even boogered the 5.0 with unconcentric cylinders:rofl: ...ser seriously it's 2018...junk mistakes in basic casting and machining came out of the 80s..... that and their version of the 10 speed? How many recalls? All of them?

Gm said they put "x amount of hours on a super computer designing the 4 cyl." The last time they said that, they built the king, the lsx. It's going to an awsome motor if they are being truthful.
    Cognitive dissonance.
Just searched, hilarious. Guy belches out some serious misinformation. Just as bad as people here.

I just love this thread. Thanks Gasifier for starting it so long ago. We are nearly up to 50,000 posts and are on page 2452. In just three pages, I got to read about a bathroom floor problem, the pros and cons of various trucks, a tidbit about trucks on the beach and a weather report.

And now I can add that it is a gorgeous day here and I have clothes out on the line that probably will be dry quite fast. I have done my grocery shopping as well and campinspecter and I took the dogs for a walk around the block. Awwwwwww - summer holidays.
