I heard that. Primer pumps can be a pain in the arse.

To clarify, I didn't actually run it out, but the gauge was buried.

Yes, it depends on the unit though. Some times priming isn't too bad but other times it can take time that could have other wise been used doing better things. Simply because the tank ran dry....

Agreed. Who wants to lug a 5 gallon can of fuel very far?

Working the Ford hard again today. Finally got all of the down trees out of my small portion of woods. It's all sugar maple, except the pile of sawn logs, that is some sort of pine. All in all I have 19 sections 8ft+ that need cut up.

The biggest straight section is junk though... knew it as soon as I started cutting through it. It will be summer bonfire wood.

The dog helped me skid the logs out of the woods, and the lady came out to make sure I wasn't slacking

Finally got to bucking up this pile. Had an old friend over who was dying to get out of the house and run his MS391. I'd say I have some splitting to do...

    Before and after.

The existing pile of sawn logs (in the snow pictures) is pine but all of the rest is sugar maple.

    2018 operations.

So far, we have what I estimate to be around 8 weeks of wood split up here. Have another 2 weeks split out back. All should be good and ready to burn for 2018/2019 winter. 98% dead ash.

I'm way behind on the 3 year plan but I've been to busy remodeling my entire house and my dad had been in bad health lately.

The Kubota L3901 w/ forks had been ordered, just waiting patiently for it to arrive - the dealer is waiting on the backhoe. Once I have that, I should be able to operate much more efficiently.

......forgot to mention that I have another year or more of sugar maple and ash (not shown) sawn into logs and stacked but not yet split. If I can kick into overdrive and split everything I have sawn, I just might be to at the 3 year ahead mark.

I'm feeding 4.5 stoves here on the compound so we burn quite a bit.

Glad this is about firewood and not hospital theatres.

7 cords CSS. No one understands why I'm saving it for next year! Hope I have enough in my other piles (not shown) to make it through this winter.

This is a nice mixture of dead ash, dead sugar maple, and a segregated pile of white pine.

On tap for the next round of splitting is more dead ash, more dead sugar maple, and a whole bunch if black locust. Need the darn ground to freeze so I can get at it all with the tractor and start skidding logs!

Nice pictures of good rounds, splits and stacks! Very bucolic surroundings. Hope your Dad is well now and hope you make it to the 3 year plan!

Good work Born2Burn. I agree you have a nice setup. Welcome and thank you for pics. The reason we are all here is because we are not all there.
