Im debating on a truck braking system for the trailer/ wood hauler I may invest in later. Never having installed or used one, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Do the systems matter? Truck having a different brand than the trailer or anything of that nature I want to know about it. I figured there’s gotta be a few people here who knows what’s pros and cons about these systems. Thanks!
You can find most anything towing related here: Trailer Hitches & Vehicle Accessories (800)298-8924 Lots of video's and wiring diagrams as well.
Yup, just what I was thinking too Trailer Wiring Diagrams | etrailer.com The most important thing is that the truck and the trailer have the same plug and are wired properly...brake controller brand doesn't matter much...just find one with the features/price/reviews you like and go for it. The plugs can be changed if they don't match...just a matter of doing a lil light wiring
Many newer trucks Are pre-wired for a brake controller. My last 2 Tundras were. If yours is, then it a simple "plug and pray" job to connect one. I have had a Tekonasha(?) Prodigy for 10 years. About a $100 and it works well.
Tekonsha is a brand I've had good luck with. Others may be fine too, but I've never seen a failure with these
Thi is that kind of unit I was hoping to get, just plug in and install if possible. I’ll do a little looking around now thanks!!!
