Anyone else obsessed with huge trees? I never found a stand that met my needs so I made one myself.

To qualify, made 15 years ago and going strong. I have been thinking about plumbing in some watering improvements but so far, so good!

    Nice:yes:

My childhood home had a 15’ cathedral ceiling in the living room. Mom and dad designed the home, drew the prints, and built it (dad was a carpenter and a drafter, and a police officer).... great space for a big tree. The stand was concrete and shaped to look like a stump with roots going out a few more inches for stability. Our trees had to be tied off about 3 feet from the topper, which itself was 1-2” below the ridge beam.....

I usually go about 12’ high, any higher and I would run out of ladder!

My inner hillbilly came out!:emb: I had visions of a deer stand that was made with an angled ladder to match the slope of a spruce with an extended platform to keep you out of the pricklies.:loco:
