It's really cooking out over here in WNY. 91F right now with the real feel of 97F!. When possible...reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work...the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency - call 9 1 1. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Hottest up here for a few years now. Not optimal but as someone who hates winter with a passion I'm sure not going to be hypocritical about it and complain. PS. I just noticed my weather app in my signature is telling heap big lies.
My outdoor activities for the afternoon have been running to the grocery store, and I'm gonna toss a chicken on the grill in a few minutes. Way too damm hot
Yep, same here, yesterday saw the real feel at 110F, today it's 94 with real feel of 106. This is stupid hot! I'm pretty ambitious by nature, but I had to call off any outdoor work at noon. Between rainy weekends, or hot humid ones, it's getting hard to get the Summer projects done. I'm hoping for a long cool Fall, it can start next week as far as I'm concerned. Be safe in the heat!
X2 ^^^^^ 94°F on the front porch, not sure what the humidity is. Sitting in the house with AC going. I might be crazy, but I ain't stupid.
Got to about 92 degrees today on my part of long Island. Pool water was cruising at a comfortable 81 degrees. Now I'm sitting inside with the AC with a tall glass of lemonade. Stay cool everyone.
It was just too hot to get the other 2 loads of the red oak today that I'm working on. I got a late start this morning and by the time I was gonna head over to start it was already disgustingly hot out.
Right there with ya Nordic. I spent the weekend at the family's cottage on the water and even that was uncomfortably hot. Water temp was around 70 though which made for perfect swimming temps. It's amazing how much more productive I can be in 20 degrees vs. 90 degrees.
I just came in from resplit ting and organizing one of my wood racks, set the splitter in the shape close to the stack and I can't believe how bad it is out there today.
Me thinks you Northerners couldn't handle it down here in Georgia! That is every year here...although one good thing is your stacks are baking!
It was 97 here yesterday afternoon. The mrs and I were Felling cutting and moving logs. I quit when the fuel boiled in the chainsaws. Quite frankly it doesn't matter where you are from the heat is still opressive. It's hotter here than in Georgia right now!!!! Feel free to come up north for some -40 camping or snowmobiling Everyone knows northern rednecks are tougher
Though its not GA, MD summers sizzle like this a good bit. Im having a good laugh at these threads lol
I would tend to disagree, having spent 2 yrs working on the flight line @Moody AFB in Valdosta, and 18 months as a civilian in Sylvester Ga. Don't like the heat and don't work in it if I don't have to. But then again, an inch of snow doesn't bring our world to a halt either.
Put in 5 hours yesterday and it was 94 when I stopped at 11:30. Got 4 hours today and it was 95 when I stopped at noon. 97 yesterday and 99 today.
