Over the past couple of years, I've been helping a friend of my wife's with the moving of furniture between her mother's house and her own. With each trip, her father offered me and my BIL helper some cash, which of course we did not accept. Sadly, her mother passed. My wife's friend is now moving her father into her house. Well, she offered us an initial walk-through of her father's stuff. So, my BIL and I went to have a look-see yesterday afternoon. He ended up with a Ryobi electric pole saw and a couple of garden tools. I ended up with a Fiskars loping pole-saw, and a Homelite Ranger chainsaw. The father said it hadn't run for 5 yrs. I got around to taking it out this morning and gave it a couple of slow pulls - it wasn't seized at all.. so, a few pumps on the prime and a pull of the choke was in order. After a couple of firm pulls, it fired up! ~happy dance~ I even scored a couple of new chains that appear to fit it, and I just might have a couple of wrongly bought chains that might fit it. It's not a killer saw, I know. It's 16" and only 33cc. But, it's light and would be perfect for limbing and bucking. Pictures of it, of course, will follow later today, I hope. Moral - be nice, perform good deeds, and you never know what will come back to you.
Homelite Ranger It has it's own house. With the 2 chain pack I saw and snagged. I have some maple and cherry pieces, sized from the thickness of your wrist up to your thigh. I think they will be it's test bed, in a couple of weeks, when my schedule allows.
You deserve some new toys, and that is a sweet way to get them! I bet the father of your friend is glad to pass them on to someone who appreciates them and will take care of them.
