Woods 27 ton, 6.5 hp Kohler motor, 13gpm pump. 13 second cycle time, my old splitter didn't have an auto return so a great improvement.
I picked up the same one last fall. Love it! $799 but I had to put it together. I also added the cradle and 4way wedge. Just an fyi the wedge bolts broke on the first use for me. I guess they have a recall on it.
Ooooh Denniiiis...... Disclaimer: We all do what works best for our personal situation, but joking around on each other has its place here....
Yes my buddy bought the 4 way and the people he bought it from called and said it was recalled. Mine was 925 put together with the cradle.
I called the dealer and they are going to refund my money. The wedge I don't feel I'd use much anyhow after using it.
Nice looking rig. I hand split all my wood for years and rather looked down my nose at others who weren't so tuff. I got a nice splitter a year ago and have put about 14 cords through her and it turns out I haven't been so tuff all this time after all. Just kinda....well....stupid!
That's awesome, metalcuttr , When I was in grade school splitting by hand, it would make me "bigger and stronger". When in High School, it would keep me in "better shape". When I bought my first splitter, my stepfather asked "what were you waiting for?" We laughed and laughed about the evolution.
Got a kick out of your post. Pretty much the same with me. Now, I don't need to be stronger and certainly not bigger, I just want it to be easier. It's hard enough WITH the splitter although I do get a feeling of unlimited strength as it powers through a gnarly butt section. I have a couple of friends that are looking down their noses at me just as I used to do. I guess they are not as evolved as us!
I know the feeling, grew up with just an axe, a couple wedges and sledge. Finally bought a 8# splitting maul, thought I was in high cotton, got older and love my hydraulic power now. If I feel really good and have some straight oak, I get a little workout in....
