Couldn't agree! I'd love to have a kombi with a couple of attachments, but can't even start to think of a way to justify the price
That's because you are paying for top of the line commercial gear. It's definitely not cheap but it certainly makes me enjoy my time spent working on my property. Overkill? Yeah... But when I'm sitting in the pool drinking a cold one and my neighbor is still out there putzing with his crappy home depot low powered line trimmer that bogs down on a dandelion I see it as money well spent.
Babaganoosh is right, if I had an acre might not be worth it. A 10 inch blade on that thing cleared half mile of hedge row in 2 hours!!
Read the descriptions of saws carefully. I am 5'10" tall and my Echo saw can barely reach the limbs at the end of its stated reach. Another few inches finds me looking for something to stand on just to reach. When I can reach, the Echo works great.
Picked up the Kobalt 40 yesterday. works great, have all ready cut down more limbs than I could chip up in a afternoon. Al
Once you get cutting you see all sorts of stuff to cut that you never saw before. This spring I had 2 piles of limbs the size of a truck each in about an hour. Don't stand on a ladder even when you are tempted to. Also be careful and only do a small undercut so your bar doesn't get pinched. It helps to have someone dragging away limbs and piling them as you are cutting.
I was just looking a few minutes ago for a pole saw. I was hoping for a 20v dewalt so I wouldn't need to buy batteries, but no go. Then I saw the Portland. For the very little that I will use one, this makes sense.
Several reviews on you tube of the portland pole saw. they appear to be good ones with Oregon chains and bars. watch Al
I would have gotten one of those but they were out of stock. No I do not buy stuff on line except Amazon where I buy gift cards to use. Al
There 20v saw is quite impressive for a battery operated one. Buddy of mines got one and I took it to a dryer piece of oak that just about fill the bar up.... ....
