My buddy called me up Sat night while I was out to dinner with my bride and said I picked up some red oak with my work van from a local guy who needed it gone. I Said cool, but I'm out to dinner and then he said Can I drop some off in your driveway? I said hell yeah. Finished putting the rounds on my racks today, looks like close to a solid face cord. Said it has been drying for a year and a half. I'll be sure to check the moisture content when I split it. After I split it up my buddy will grab some for his firepit. Free Oak and dumped in my driveway. Works for me.
I would say you have only recently been wed going by the term 'bride' rather than wife, or better half. Congrats, wish you both many happy years together.
Oakie ist always nice! Theres some Red oaks in my Street, never Had the Chance to burn it though but i think its amazing how fast they grow.
Great attitude MikeyB . When I was about 21 my great uncle visited my grandmother, he was a preacher, I got off work on a summer day to go see him, as he resided in northern California. We were chatting and I offered to take him out on my boat spend the night watch sunset and sunrise over the lake. His response; it would be great to witness that and view God's beautiful creation! But my beautiful young bride is waiting for me at home and I miss her and have a yearning to hurry back. At the time he was 76 and been married for over 50 years. I remember thinking that's what I want out of a marriage.
Well, “¥ou $uck” again!!! And now I’m sure if Babaganoosh reads this he’ll be wanting his $20 back on his score.... Would you tip a 20 for this?
Got the rounds split and stacked today, took me a solid hour and a half with my Boss 7 ton electric. According to my calcs it's just under a half a cord. Not bad at all. Not sure if you see what I have on the top of the racks it's a corrugated composite type panel I picked up 2 from the Depot for $15 each. They fit this back to back set up perfect and they look real clean as well. And the mm readings are 40% and higher on this red oak.
Nice score. Getting wood of unknown drying age, is a good use for a MM. I like your racks. Are the bottoms of your uprights wrapped in some kind of metal? Good way to keep ground moisture from getting to the lumber ends. Same with the uprights sitting on blocks.
Thanks Mike. I had the bottoms of the landscaping posts wrapped with roofing rubber. Originally had them inside the cider blocks but have changed up the design a bit.
